Micro-transactions coming Tuesday, only for cosmetic purposes.
Only for cosmetic purposes for now. I've seen how Activision works with RNG and micro-transactions.
They'll start with shaders and gun skins, eventually they'll be offering just about everything for a low price.
These dudes are ruthless with the money grab.
If it goes that route I am done with Destiny. Once, they start where you go buy motes, upgrades, and weapons, peace out.

It's coming. I imagine you'll be able to pay for upgrades, engram packages, sparrows, ships, etc.
With CoD:AW, Activision implemented a similar loot system that Destiny has, supply drops that are totally random. Completly luck based, for those not lucky enough to get the very best weapons needed to compete they could buy supply drops. These varied from 1 drop that cost $1.99 and contained a whopping 3 items to drops that cost $30+. All with zero guarantee.
Go back before the release of TTK, how many people without the Ghorn would have more than willingly paid for it? They cold have easily sold it for 5.99 and made a killing.
Now apply that across the board.
Everything about how this game was handled seems like a money grab and it wouldn't surprise me if in the next year there are microtransactions to buy gear/materials.
They won't do it all at once, but I think comestic changes are just a start.
Played with a guy last night and ran two nightfalls, he paid for the new dance moves. 20$ got him a dance move for all three characters, a couple year one exotics that don't translate to year two and shaders.
Me and and my friend noticed him doing the MC Hammer dance and thought it was funny, after he told us what he paid and what he got, we laughed even harder.
I imagine there are many people who.just paid 20$ for the exact same crap.
How far did your team get?
Pretty sure he joined us at Oryx one night. We tried for an hour or so but then called it quits. We were close, but after awhile people were tired, ammo running out, etc. It just wasn't going to happen with that group at that time.
Strange some groups struggle there, some it just seems to work. It's just a matter of everyone learning what to do. If you can get the platform holders to understand only 3 need to jump and the 4th needs to help in middle on Ogres, it's not too bad.
Also, if you're ever in a group and you aren't doing damage during bombs, make sure someone keeps shooting Oryx the whole time. If not, his chest will close and some/all bombs may not count.
