Also, this article explains the reasoning behind why he redshirted:

Did Arizona State known preseason that they were going to be a bubble team?
If Tennessee had a rough year and got in as a 10 seed is Burns suddenly a less talented player?
That’s happened several times actually. Has trouble catching bounce passes to. Hustles and plays hard though but need upgrade at position to maintain a tourney teamI like Fulk, but he is clumsy. I remember against Kentucky in the SEC tournament, he tripped over his own feet getting back on defense. Fulk tripping over his own feet led to a transition layup.
My impression is that a large majority of RS players that made impact their RS freshmen/2nd year are guards.
Imo most bigs that need to redshirt take a longer time to develop into impact players but I would love to see some data on such things
Did someone declare he was an All-SEC guy next year? Maybe the staff likes his potential long term?
Huh?
The context being discussed here is we need an immediate impact guy if Grant is gone. Imo ita easier to find that in a grad transfer than in a kid that redshirted last year. I don't like the odds either way to be honest but guys that redshirted are very unlikely to give this team an immediate impact
Take a Lew Evans type graduate transfer or a guy you feel can be a very good SEC starting big man for 2-3 years? If those are the options I’m taking the guy for the future, I don’t see a Lew Evans caliber type bringing much more than Fulk/Burns/Kent
So we should cut bait then, no chance he contributes? Same for Burns? Also Kent? Probably Pember and/or Gaines as well? It’s a wonder anyone redshirts if it’s widely known they’ll never be any good if they do?
Who was he supposed to displace considering we were loaded at his position.Yea and hasn't been a factor since either which is my exact point
