Great, I just received an email from a client of mine who happens to be a big Louisiana Tech support. He asked me what we were thinking... a question to which I didn't have a good answer. He added that Dooley is a "below average coach." Not my words, just passing along from someone who knows Dooley better than probably any of us on this board.
Yeah, because a 4-8 record in the WAC is a much more impressive resume line than having called plays in the NFL.Please explain yourself. Dooley is the AD as well as the HC at LTech. He obviously is smart and can handle a heavy workload as well as pressure. Kippy Brown is nowhere near as qualified as Dooley. NOT EVEN CLOSE! Anyone who would make the grossly unqualified Kippy HC has no business being AD.
Best, most well thought-out post today. Thanks, UF, for keeping us grounded. Just might be a SUPER hire. Hope springs eternal. GO VOLS!!!Seriously guys. Tennessee fans are ready to crucify the new coach before he has ever coached a game. He's someone most of us, including myself, have never heard of. But let's be real here. He was recruiting coordinator for NICK SABAN when he won the national championship. He can recruit! Which is a big deal to coach at Tennessee. If he is endorsed by a guy thats won two national championships and the defensive coordinator of one of the best football programs in the nation then I'm okay with this hire.
Let's face it. We were not going to get a big name coach. No coach is gonna do to his school what Kiffin did to us. The timing of this is just bad. We may not agree with the hire but he is the coach of our Vols and it is our duty as fans to support him and the team. If we don't give him our support how is he going to succeed?
We need to get over ourselves and realize that this is actually happening. I personally think it will work out in the long run. Is it a quick fix? Probably not. But in the long run this stands to be a fairly good hire for Tennessee.

Look for the team ranked 86th in recruiting this year. You'll find your man there.

Yeah, it is, when you consider the fact that Dooley has also coached in the NFL under Saban, been a HC and AD all by the age of 40. There are a lot of people who have called plays in the NFL. That doesn't mean they're HC material.
What's so bad about Dooley? Is he that bad a coach?
is there no one upset because cutcliff turned ya'll down?
don't ***** about offering him the job, ask why he said go away?
