Pat Dye was 11-10 at Wyoming before Auburn hired him. Judging from your criteria, he was an idiot for taking on that challenge and Auburn should never have offered. Using your standards, Auburn would've been better served offering Bill Battle the position purely based on his record at Tennessee.

I'll take a Dooley in this situation over someone who has had the table set for them like a Sumlin, a Coker, or a Battle. We need someone who has experience in difficult circumstances.

None of us can see the future but looking at it objectively, he's a good man with proven organizational skills. Add to that the "unspoken" inside track into the SEC brotherhood he has by virtue of family and friendships and I think this could be one of the all time surprise hires(IF he survives the first couple of years). Yea, I want to beat ya'll when we play you but as a life long Southerner I REALLY want ya'll to get a shot at Kiffen's sorry a$$ along with his left coast pole puffers and beat them without human mercy. You fight the hardest against your brother sometimes but without question, you always fight the hardest FOR your brother. I know, I know. Strange coming from a "bammer", but some of you will get it.

Why is it so bad to give Dooley another year to prove he can win? If he does not we ruin the chance of his recruits to prove why they are vols and we very well may lose a great coach, unless you have been in a coaches shoes you don't have any idea how good of a job he is doing, could have anyone done better?:rtfm:

I have been a solid Dooley supporter. Sadly, it is time for him to go. It is hard to recruit from a hot seat. It is almost impossible from a seat that's on fire. His is on fire.

Coach Dooley has not measured up to expectations but, he and his family are nice people.

Funny I forgot about this thread and I was reading all the panic about hiring Dooley and lordy lordy it all came true!...It was career suicide for Hamilton, His mother is an nice lady but yes a dingbat and he has failed miserably at UT....Lets all hope when it is all over with and done that Mr. Hart does not go out and make the same mistake...It will kill this fanbase.
