There’s no limit anymore on the number of on-field coaches that a school can have. But, there is a limit to how many people can be on the road recruiting.does this mean we’re losing an offensive on field coach or special teams? Maybe Alec Abelin or Evan Crabtree? Thought we could only have 10 on field assistants.
Halzle - OC-QB
Knowles - DC
Sims - RB
Pope - WR
Abelin - TE
Elarbee - OL
Garner - DL
Jackson - Edge
Inge - LB
Hunter - CB
Poindexter - S
Crabtree - ST
That’s 12 people. How many are we allowed?
Our LBs have been bad… real bad. Slow, unathletic, and terrible at reads/angles. I’m surprised they kept him.Inge is a solid coach and may already have a guaranteed contract. He is a superb communicator. I think Chop and Ernest Thomas are quality coaches and recruiters but trust Knowles to bring his core team and extended auxiliary staff in and upgrade the program considerably. Absolutely retain some SEC veterans like Garner who I bet will be super motivated with the new group.
I’d almost take Penn St’s entire defense over ours. At least they ranked in the mid 30’s in total defense in Knowles first year. Just think of how many more wins we’d have if our defense wasn’t straight garbage with a total defense ranking around 90th to 100.I know that Penn St had a "letdown" year. Although it would be nice to get 3-4 of those dudes to help this transition.
So right now defensive staff is:
Rodney Garner - D Line
Andrew Jackson - Edge
William Inge - Linebackers
Michael Hunter Jr. - Cornerbacks
Anthony Poindexter - Safeties
Chop Harvin - either gone or demoted to analyst.
Does this mean we’re losing an offensive coach too? Maybe Alec Abelin?
Only way we could add one of these more as an on field coach is if we get rid of an offensive coach or special teams coordinator
Some laugh, but Ryan Day has been head coach and play caller for exactly two games in the last two years...loss to Michigan last year and last weekend against Miami. The best defensive news I hope to soon hear is that Heup has hired a great OC and has decided to finally try this being-a-head-coach thing.
Good question. Could we see the special teams job divided up to multiple position coaches? We had that before I think. Not a whole lot on punting anyway. Get Fuad out of the booth part time for the new kicker. Coverages????So right now defensive staff is:
