Defending Fulmer

As gibbs would say, those are the real world facts outside the back door.

And the other real world facts are that, by every single objective measurement of the program, we are worse off post-Fulmer than we were with Fulmer, even using his last 5 years as the standard.

Wins...down
Rankings....down
Bowl wins...down
SEC title appearances...none
Ticket sales...down
TV ratings...down
Merchandise sales...down

Losses by double digits...up
Losses to ranked foes...up
Losses to our rivals...up
NCAA inquiries...up

Wake me up when we have actual objective evidence we're better off...

Wins...down (directly attributable to laziness induced backslide)
Rankings....down (see above)
Bowl wins...down (see above)
SEC title appearances...none (see above)
Ticket sales...down (see above)
TV ratings...down (ibid)
Merchandise sales...down (generally economic, but a lot is about lack of bigtime upperclassmen who typically have jerseys purchased)

Losses by double digits...up (stupid stat)
Losses to ranked foes...up (don't buy it)
Losses to our rivals...up (not over the past 5 years. Utterly embarrassing lossed where opposition made fun of our fitness - 0)
NCAA inquiries...up (not a freaking chance)

Wake me up when we have actual objective evidence we're better off...
Of course we are. Your lunacy in ignoring his part in heading off the cliff makes you look like a clown.

I've noted your silliness on your chart.

maybe Fulmer had something to do with that? Nah

this is a start

07-08 vs UF and UA combined score: 159-52
09-10 vs UF and UA combined score: 107-50

Why don't you take your same criteria above and compare Fulmer 90's to Fulmer 2000 and on? Maybe then you will see the light.

Not really sure 3 years to rebuild a trainwreck is quite the same as over 10 years with a team that won the SEC a couple of years before you took over...

You keep bringing up Fulmer inheriting an SEC Championship team. For the kids on the board, post the SEC records of those championship teams. Had the conference not gone to divisions, Phil would have had four more SEC championships based on record alone. He laid some eggs in the championship games. But if you give credit to winning the SEC with a 5-1 record, you can at least recognize 7-1 in 2004 as pretty dang good. Or even 6-2 in 2007 sure would look good now.

I don't buy the "we're not losing as bad so we're better argument". It's all the Kiffin lovers have, but using a moral victory is still touting a loss. Not good.

never said it was a victory but it's a sign we are improving since he left. We are no longer playing with a qb who couldn't hand off with the correct hand or a DC that forgets to cover a player for an entire game

the silly guy on your side was the one using margin of loss as some sort of stat of merit. Don't get me wrong, we know his stats are typically wrong, interpreted poorly and generally useless, but he still tossed them out there.

No the DC forgot you can only play with 11 though. We sure as hell had a QB that handed off with the correct hand also - 3 times right up the gut to preserve the Music City Bowl choking.

Fulmer was a piece or trash who went a decade without winning an SEC title. Period. Clear enough?

Bash the guy all you want. What are you 12? Still not one honest CPF hater on the board. Would the haters take 152-52 over the next 15 - 16 years? My God someone answer.

And? Were those teams not worlds more talented than what we had in 2009 and 2010?

So the lack of any ability to run the ball and dearth of confidence in throwing due to starting a true freshman was a Dooley problem.

We win that game if not for two indefensible officiating screw-ups at the end of regulation.

Not sure anyone would have been more forgiving if we'd let a true freshman in a high-pressure situation throw a pass against a Butch Davis defense and failed.

Freaking peole have answered you. Your idiotic responses don't change that. If it means two conference titles, the answer is fark no. If it means underplaying our talent, fark no. If the conference goes back to hell from lack of coaches, fark no.

You have troubling interpreting hat's answer as it relates to your question?

We would have won with 1 first down too.

If he keeps coming up with this boneheadedness about honesty - yes, no question.

BigPapaVol, you are my favorite poster. A simple question. So you would be happy with Dooley if his career mirrored CPF's. Thank you so much. I hope it does, we're in for another great ride. Guess I'd better prepare to defend CDD in 2027. What will I be then a Dooley-Fooley?, a Dooleyite? or just maybe a season ticket holder who loves Tennessee.

I have no intention of reading every post on this incredibly long threat, I just wanted to mention something I noticed about CPF.
I saw a picture of him at Los Amigos in Maryville, yesterday, and he has lost about 40 lbs.
Without even reading the thread, I am sure that there are fat jokes sprinkled throughout the previous 44 pages. From now on, they are uninformed and lazy.
That is all.

It's not going to. Dooley didn't have the great fortune of taking over a loaded roster(failmer forgot to recruit his last couple years). He also doesn't have the fortune of walking into a crappy sec. Instead he's coaching against who routinely kicked your hero's ass.
