Defending Fulmer

again though, as if it wasn't obvious, we are mentioning the cream of the crop.

the best of the best of the best.

no one is coming up with any chumps here.

it's a pretty exclusive club and fulmer is a member.
Frank Beamer and Mack Brown are on the list, right?

And it's a club that Mark Richt would also be a member of had he not lost to Ron Zook twice and had a few puzzling losses to UK and Vandy.

Phil Fulmer 152 - 52 (1) NC
Bob Stoops 129 - 31 (1) NC
Steve Spurrier 186 - 73 (1) NC
Mark Richt - How the hell did he get thrown into the conversation? 96-34 (0) NC
Mack Brown 219 - 108 (1) NC
Frank Beamer 198 - 95 (0) NC Has NEVER beaten a top 5 team. NEVER
Jim Tressel 217 - 78 (1) NC

Sorry to put facts on here. Carroll and Tom Osborne were off the charts by the way. Believe it or not they were better than the great Mark Richt.

Stoops- 7 conference titles
Steve Spurrier- 6 conference titles
Mark Richt- 2 conference titles
Mack Brown- 2 conference titles
Frank Beamer- 7 conference titles
Jim Tressel- 7 conference titles
Tom Osbourne- 13 conference titles
Pete Carroll- 6 conference titles

That's what I care about.

Richt got thrown into the conversation because if he continues on at the same winning percentage he'll have almost the exact same record as Phil. 151-53

Unfortunately, Georgia is probably not stupid enough to keep him around for that long.

Tell you what, I live in the Tri-Cities. Go ask any Hokie fan how big 7 conference titles are. They would trade every one of them for a NC.

Just watched the '96 Citrus Bowl. We beat Ohio State, but it dont count we beat Cooper instead of Tressel.

CPF is the best UT coach of your lifetime - The end.

i pick on va tech because they are overrated in terms of being a national title contender.

however, you have to respect frank beamer for winning 10 games a year in blacksburg, va. that's not an easy gig.

so, to laugh him off as an average coach is just not right.

you notice most of the coaches we are mentioning coached at schools where you could fall out of bed and get a loaded recruiting class.

Fulmer didn't exactly have a tough recruiting job.

Say what you want about how things fell off at the end, but Fulmer was an elite recruiter for about the first 8-10 years of his tenure.
I agree, I Just don't think it's that difficult to recruit to Tennessee, especially when Georgia is mediocre.
