Defending Fulmer

You're probably right but the two games I'm thinking of are UCLA and Auburn in 2009. I guess in the back of my mind I just can't believe that Crompton was as bad as he was,

UCLA and Auburn had losing seasons the year before and they both still beat Fulmer.

I just can't believe that we didnt address it when Cut told him that it was going to be a large problem.

UCLA was actually quite a bit better in 2009 than in 2008, as was Auburn. Don't see any way we win those two or UGA or SC. 5 wins, tops. Maybe fewer as the easy games at the end of the season become harder due to a roster that's quit on you.

And hell, if Lincoln was hitting 100% against Aubie, I think we actually force OT with that last TD.

There is absolutely no reason to think 2009 or 2010 would have been as good much less better with fulmer coaching.

2009, no.

I do think 2010 would've been as good or better with Fulmer coaching because we wouldn't have had all the attrition from multiple coaching changes.

2011 and on, no.

Wow - did the sewing circle get together and pass around the crack pipe?

We used to be ranked every week of every season. We are currently looking at, what, #42??????? And it's very far from being bang out of order.

This is why y'all must be dopplegangers - posing as fools on this board to troll around and get real Vol fans worked up.

I am pleased when you have the opposite perspective than I do.

Yeah, I remember. Just saying that those are the two games I can think of where a little coaching continuity and a few players might have helped. It's a reach though.

But Who did we lose that would have helped?

No, you don't. You just keep repeating the same nonsense again and again.

Were you able to come up with any answer to my previous question other than "only a sissy wouldn't continually read my idiocy?"

Well, I've yet to see anyone produce any idiocy from me. In fact, Fukushima, Libya, "Debt Crisis" are three things I was right as rain on (and would you believe, people actually said I would be wrong????) just off the top of my head and in recent news. It is such a commonplace, I don't really keep score.

So, I suppose another answer to your question would be: ignore and assume the risk?

Regardless, if I repeat myself, it is because so many others repeat the same nonsense again and again. Unfortunately (for them), the real world outside the back door has my back.

And the real world wins. Every time.

If you are feeling blue and want some laughs, try to dig up one of the old posts where Gibbs says we beat Bama in 2009 if Phil had hung around.

Then find the ones he mentions as victories from the above post. 15 minutes worth of laughs, if you can stand to read it.

It scares me that we share the same roads.

I remember the great nukeese running to the auburn 25 early. Crompton threw 3 straight passes in the dirt or stands, and we missed a fg. Game over. Terrible playcalling that game, especially when you want to keep the ball away from malzone.

That may be so.

But see my response to Cotton. History, simply, is not on your side.

I think there is a chance we make a run this year - and I actually think it is better than our chance next year. Vegas Vol posted some odds on our potential record, and although I only scanned it, it looked fairly solid to me. If Dooley and Co deliver 7 -5 I should think they overacheived a little.

Which is a testimonial to the failure of the Hambone Experiment. :hi:

The playcalling that game was nothing special, but if you watch it right after the 2008 Auburn game, you might think our OC is Bill Walsh.

Ok. Geez. In reference to misspelling gus's name, which I assume has a z and maybe an h.

Overachieved in terms of digging out of Fulmer's canyon - yes. Overachiever in terms of talent - no.

As much as it might cost to miss posts of absolutely no value and founded on fantastically predicted pasts in which, despite making no sense, you declare yourself the winner, I think I'll take the chance.

Congrats, by the way, if you were right on something about something, even if it isn't football. It is a landmark achievement for you, although I doubt it is true.
