Dee Beckwith status?

All of our Qb's have issues they need to work on. Milton holds the ball too long, results in fumbles, takes sacks he shouldn't if he is truly mobile, and can't connect deep
Hooker, issues with staring down receivers, while scrambling doesn't have good ball security resulting in turnovers. I would say he needs to learn to get what he can and get down. I thought the lick he took on the scramble he was really hurt. Pretty nasty shot. I met his parents yesterday at the Vol Walk. Good genuine people and they even called him over to meet my daughter which was really cool. She had a lot of fun for her first game.

Bailey, he is a young guy that needs to learn the system and support his team. Control what he can control, holding the ball to long, getting the ball out on time to the spot he needs. Work on getting his velocity up, pocket awareness which comes from live reps and trusting his mechanics. He will never be a runner, but it was cool to hear on the radio he got a rushing td on rpo. His feet can be used at select times. Again awareness which they can work on.
Agree, I think Bailey understands that right now he is not prepared. When he came off the field after the touchdown the first person to meet him was coach hueplle they gave each other a high five and both had big smiles. The ability and talent are there and I think both coach and Bailey know this and both know it will take some time. I have a suspicion that he may be the starter before the year is up not because he is the best but because the other two are going to take a beating if we dont get our line in order

56-36 in 2018 (Heupel’s first as a HC) and 48-14 in 2019…pretty decisive Heupel’s way.
While thats true Heupel had much better talent lol. If they beat us 70-7 what say then ? And yes it damn well can happen this year. I prefer not to think that way because the other guy Heupel beat that was on our schedule just won a game here.Because of coaching decisions and personel issues. These are well documented facts considering Frost went 13-0 the year before at UCF with O'Leary's guys. He hasn't done jack at Nebraska except for some embarrassing losses. That is not a good comparison considering Frost and Heupel were winning with O'Leary's players. Once that talent was gone it started to decline. Narduzzi ringing any bells

.

A coaches evaluation is always better than rating services. The ratings are just an average and they also pay attention to what schools are offering kids. Hence, if Bama offers they trust Sabans evaluation over their own and bump a kid because of that offer. Over time, say 13yrs, it should balance out. Some kids will be overrated, some under, etc but if you recruit top 20 for 13yrs straight you should have talent on your roster. TN does not. Best thing we can do is just give Huepel time now. Otherwise we turn the roster. Look at UK. They stuck with Stoops and honestly, I'd trade rosters with them straight up today. They recruit, redshirt, and develop. We need that here but Huepel has to do some things along the way to show progress and give hope. Just like Stoops did.
‘I don’t think I would trade rosters with UK yet. If we don’t recruit better next year, I may be with you.

Crossing that bridge when getting there kind of thing. What about Narduzzi? The NCAA hand down a larger margin of victory?

Or maybe they're in a slightly better position with just a tad more expertise than YOU to determine that? I would say that Heupel's history as an offensive coach speaks for itself.

I'm pretty sure you and a few others are trying to rationalize some premature judgments RE Heupel.

By all reports, Milton was hitting a lot of those deep throws in practice that he's missed in games. Hooker played a decent game. Bailey didn't throw deep well at all tonight and that may be why he wasn't #1 or #2..
The ball he threw to Keyton his first drive was put perfectly. It was the best thrown deep ball any QB has had through 3 games.

Maybe this staff can’t judge actual talent or who puts us in the best position to win. I mean Milton started 2 games.

We just had the best pre game script and great adjustments in the last three games that we have had since Kiff or Cut was OC. You are just a part of the Legion that suck in regards to any knowledge about the game of football.

Only this fanbase would make a thread that lasts hundreds of posts about a 6th string RB
You’d be surprised how much you underrate other fanbases. Anybody member when that Bammer started a thread on Tua and if he’d be able to understand English enough to play at this level? 😏

Whine until they remove the reason and then whine at a slightly lower decibel.
- LOM prolly

Another great athlete that couldn’t learn a position. I heard they wanted him to change positions and he didn’t want to.

Our TE is a bright spot. Please don’t act like DB is the next Pitts riding the bench. Let’s figure out who wants to be here, and build around them.
Why would you not want to play tightend in this offense. They get thrown to alot in this offense.

What if the guy won’t switch positions to play where he’s needed and isn’t climbing the depth chart in his current position?
What does a coach do then?

Well that would go back to my original point if that's the case. And if it is the case then I think he's doing the right thing for himself. I don't like creating these wild what if scenarios though because we know someone will run with it.

DB is from my hometown, and my son's High school. One of my close friends was his high school coach. I saw his recruitment up close, relatively, including listening to some hilarious stories about Jim Chaney when they came back from a visit to UT.

I have a bit of insight into why he might not be playing, but at the same time I'm very frustrated by his inability to get on the field

Bailey was never given a chance, He should have started the second half with the 1's still in the game.

He had all Spring, Summer, and Fall camp. Hooker got the work because Heupel knows that Booker needs to work to further develop the needed rapport with the offense. No coach is going to give valuable game reps to a 3rd string QB, especially when he needs to get QB1 and QB2 ready.

That’s fair…..but……he kinda created the what if’s with the tweet. It’s my understanding that Hypel is looking guys in the eye and telling them exactly what he thinks and expects. Some guy’s will grow under that situation and some like Maurer will hit the bricks.

Keyton had to dive for the ball. I wouldn't put it better than Hooker's ball that that Peyton dropped. Keyton should have caught the ball just as Pwyton should have caught his. No one has caught a deep ball in stride as they should be able to do. We all want it. We can see the big play potential in Heupel's offense. It's something that has to be repped over and over. We'll get there and hopefully connect on a few against Florida Saturday.
