Dee Beckwith status?

and there's a reason why those stats belong to guys not named bailey......and why the touchdowns in prime time dont belong to him either. he showed yesterday. i think it's past time for the pro-bailey guys to sit back and root for the team and drop this topic because dude struggled against a team down 49-0 live on his home field. and yes, hooker can hit the long ball. on another topic, bailey cannot get away from the rush anywhere near the way both hooker and milton can and this oline is not that good. he needs to hit the weights and get ready for next yr or the year after because playing behind this oline will ruin his confidence.
Moot point....Playing mop up football is always garbage game time. Fumbles are huge by a QB you DONT do it !!! Crucial INTS. Is exactly who I knew Hooker was before he threw it. Same with Milton not being a accurate passer. I agree the offensive line play is not good. But putting the ball on the ground is just as bad play as not protecting. Crucial timing with an INT. Is also !!!

I think we agree Bailey is not game ready, especially behind this OL. I had left before Bailey got to play yesterday as my 6 y/o gave her all and slept the whole way home. I was one of those that thought HB could get the job done. However he needs growth in a couple area's like getting the ball out quicker and not taking sacks. From all accounts he has tools but needs a faster clock. As far as his arm strength. I watched both him and Hooker warm up, they both throw with similar trajectories and both put air under the ball. They can both also throw it about 55 yards comfortably to a spot. His arm strength is fine, just needs development in getting his torso around for velocity and following through. Each QB has a few things to work on. If healthy I think Milto will start at Florida based on Heupel's comments after the game. To have a chance we have to play turnover free and get a takeaway or two. DL has made strides, not sure outside of Theo, the rest need work.

I’m with you. Bailey has a little growing up to do before he can lead this offense. Oddly, I think he’s actually regressed some which isn’t completely abnormal when responding to different coaching methods.

Yeah you also said what game were you watching ? That Bailey threw the best ball you had seen this year

Bailey did throw the best ball for UT this year out of the 3. If you disagree, please post the game and time that HH or JM completed a pass over the shoulder on the outside where the defender couldn't reach it ON THE MONEY with the defender draped all over UT's WR!!!

See my thread that you have to hire the RIGHT coach. Giving these last 3 guys 10 years wouldn’t have changed much.

Stoops is in the right spot. He actually only had a 49-50 record after 8 years. That’s fine for up there, and now he has a run first system to recruit linemen for. And he’s developing a lot of solid defenders for the NFL. They don’t need freshmen to play, and that negates whatever recruiting advantage we have.
Stoops has built a heck of program there for their standards. We need to learn from them and be patient. I think we need to just relax. We are 2-1 and haven’t been blown out yet this year. Say that after the previous three years.

Yeah, Milton needs to start because he is the best at tucking the ball and keeping from turning over the ball. Oh wait!!! Milton didn't tuck two he should have and fumbled them this year in two games already!!!!! Bailey is still the best passer on the roster in GAMES with it not even being close!!!!!

The real Q is. How does TN recruit top 15-20 annually yet never have any talent at all? Interesting how Arkansas and Ole Miss, who have not recruited to the same level as TN seem to be more talented. Interesting how that always happens with TN.

They have both done well in the transfer portal - that has to be a way of life going forward - but you have to get quality players.

Fair shot?

Bailey was overthrowing WR’s and showing no pocket awareness during mop up duty against Tennessee Tech.

He’s simply not that good regardless of his HS rating and many fans can’t accept that.

Bailey may never live up to his HS ranking but what is clear at the moment is that he’s not ready for primetime. I think he’s actually regressed from last year.

These players that are transferring because of lack of playing time are going to find it hard to find a spot at any program, much less the SEC

If you can’t play in this team, it might be best to move elsewhere. That to me says more about his ability at RB than the coaches inability to play him. My only hope if he is to somehow stay is that he moves to a different position, TE or DE/LB

I was there with you until yesterday. Man I would’ve loved nothing more than for Bailey to have come out like a gun slinger and be the QB his recruiting ranking indicated he might be considering my preference is pure drop back passers that pick defenses apart. I’m not much for running QB’s. Bailey needs to develop for another year and let’s see what happens then.

Did Travis Henry feel sorry for himself and transfer in 1997... or stick it out and seize an opportunity when Lewis went down in '98? Players these days expect instant gratification.
And Henry had a hell of alot more talent. He is constantly dinged up, go to a smaller school. If you were good enough you would play. GBO!!!!!

Just look at 5 star Wayna riding the pine out there in sooner land. He simply isn't leaving up to the billing of a 5 star. Many of them that leave find that out! A few make the most out of it. GBO!!!!

Possibly, he does tend to be TOO SLOW at GOING THROUGH PROGRESSIONS and GETTING RID OF THE BALL QUICKLY!!! But, I stil say he is the BEST PASSER on the roster! If all three QBs play close to an equal amount vs UF, I would bet that HB will look much better at seeing the field and putting the passes where they need to be!!!

Ol' Heupel has studs everywhere up an down the lineup he's not giving playing time.

Is that what we are to believe here?

The only thing I can think of is a potential attitude issue with not buying into the system but we haven't heard that. I agree with a reported 71 scholarship players you'd think you'd find somewhere guys can play.

Bailey was 3-7 for 16 yards against Tennessee Tech’s third string defense.

Maybe fans and some coaches believe that rating services are not always correct in evaluating players from film and not in live game competition. Also, players go to the portal for a reason; they could not earn playing time at their first location, or they were in academic trouble, or they had other problems either with the coaches or the other players. In any case, getting players from the portal is a bigger gamble than those you recruit. Remember, there are over a thousand players who entered the portal who now have no place to play football or complete their education.
.

A coaches evaluation is always better than rating services. The ratings are just an average and they also pay attention to what schools are offering kids. Hence, if Bama offers they trust Sabans evaluation over their own and bump a kid because of that offer. Over time, say 13yrs, it should balance out. Some kids will be overrated, some under, etc but if you recruit top 20 for 13yrs straight you should have talent on your roster. TN does not. Best thing we can do is just give Huepel time now. Otherwise we turn the roster. Look at UK. They stuck with Stoops and honestly, I'd trade rosters with them straight up today. They recruit, redshirt, and develop. We need that here but Huepel has to do some things along the way to show progress and give hope. Just like Stoops did.

Bailey has all of the tools but needs a ton of reps with an emphasis on a quicker windup, release, and zip on the ball. He has to want it more than the next guy. When he finally decides that he wants it, he’ll get it.

Bailey reminds me a lot of Danny Wuerffel but he hasn’t had the type of coaching Danny Wuerffel had to be nearly as good and prepared as quickly as Wuerffel was.

If Huepel is a good coach and developer, which he's clearly better than what we have had, why do we have less talent than Ole Miss? Is Kiffin that much better of a coach?
Look at the QB they have.

Then imagine if Milton hit all those deep balls and think about where we'd be.

As of now though, kiffin has proven himself to be better.

You can guarantee that if Bailey transfers and lights it up there’d 100 threads blaming the coaches and everything they could think of

I'll bet that fans of the schools that Milton and Hooker came from said the same thing. But lets just step back and wait to see if either or both of them (Hooker or Milton) "light it up" here.

Milton oozes potential. Is Coral Coral because of Coral of because of Lebby/Kiffin?

Their backup, Dart, looked good during mop up time as well. I think they have a good system.

This may be true, however just like the other guys Bailey has a lot to prove. I think Bailey's biggest problem is he doesn't trust what he is doing and it causes him to play slow. His light will come on. When it does he will play well. I believe he has a good skill set. His time will come let him develope. For all we know he knew he wasn't gonna play much because they wanted him to do just that develope. He has 4 years after this one to play ball. He doesn't have to rush if not ready. This can and probably will make him a better QB and leader in the near future.
