Loudoun County is adding "social justice" to the mission of teaching elementary school students reading, writing, and arithmetic. The Washington, D.C., suburb—the richest county in the country—has teamed up with the Southern Poverty Law Center's (SPLC) education arm Teaching Tolerance to develop its new curriculum. The proposed lesson plan will restructure history and social studies classes to emphasize slavery as fundamental to American society for students from kindergarten to the fifth grade.

The new Teaching Tolerance kindergarten curriculum requires teachers to explain social justice theories to five-year-olds. The Loudoun County elementary school teacher believes this curriculum will prove divisive for children who lack the maturity to deal with the subject.

If you want to have real conversations about western decadence I think you have to look a lot deeper than what this is doing.

Rome is a good example, and maybe Athens before them.

As soon as the leaders were separated from the people and the consquences of their actions they started their downfall.

Currently our society ties the consquences of failure to the political blowback instead of the actual results. So even if the failure is not in political favor they still maintain their class. This leads to a complete separation from reality. And once they stop addressing the real problems and just played politics it's no wonder there are collapses when the actual problems dont get addressed.

See our current environment. BLM/police brutality has been an issue for forever. Those championing the change have been in power for a long time, long enough to make changes, but they havent. Why? Because the actual consquence of their failures, black communities facing higher police violence, doesnt effect them. They make noise about, but that's not enough. Which is why you see the protests and riots. And this isnt a Dem issue only. Republicans should care just as much, but they dont.

Next you can look at the ancient empires dependence on slave/imported labor or military. They separated the role of it's own people from the maintenance of the city/empire. It became a privilege to live in the city where most Roman's didnt "do" a whole lot. When they started a good chunk of Roman males served in the military or were employed with food and resource production. As time went on and they became more successful they were able to acquire resources from their vassals and slaves.

The current version is automation not slavery. Proportionally Americans are less responsible for the care of our nation than in the pass. "Nothing tastes better than a meal you cook yourself" comes into play. Since we are no longer as actively engaged in the care of our country we have become detached from it. America is no longer important, we have put individual comfort and party in front of it. We are no longer willing to work to take care of yourself. Look at the dependence on the government. Whether that's welfare, healthcare, police. We are no longer responsible and thus have become decadent.

Hard to say what the first was, but SS has to be brought up. A safety net became a way of life and the multiplied and grew as only government can. Again this isnt an R vs D issue. They are both guilty of the same sins, the only question they argue is blame. Again because we are so detached we dont care that they dont care.

You can look at the reaction to Covid, again both sides politicize instead of addressing the issue. We treat it like a first world problem, because nothing is real. There is no challenge in the nation, we have become too comfortable. And just like Rome it's not some outside threat that does us in. But our own laxity. Whether its political party divide, race, wealth, whatever. We divide ourselves because we have the success and decadence it provides to do it

Military. We are strung out all over the world because we arent challenged. The age old adage of "if you defend everything, you defend nothing" applies. We havent faced a challenged so pur military isnbloated and unfocused, and it makes us vulnerable while adding to the burden we place on the nation.

If you want more look at the deficit/debt. Sure the Rs play lip service too it, but they spend like drunken sailors on shore leave. We literally just made up a trillion dollars during a crisis! How effing decadent is that. We no longer consider what made us strong, our wealth, to be real. To the point where we can just bs the numbers openly.

Sadly I think it's the last part that is going to do us in. The largest, by percent, growth in our budget year to year is debt INTEREST payments. And then you have to consider we have added 2.6 trillion this year alone without any regard to lost tax revenue. Our payments here are growing alarmingly. We are looking at a reality where our entire budget just pays the INTEREST. We will default, because neither side is pushed towards any real leadership on the matter because we are too dependent to care. It goes back to that movie on the housing market crash "we are making too much money to care".

It is open season on Catholic hospitals as secularists try to coerce these institutions to violate Church doctrine in the provision of medical services.

The most notable examples are transgendered persons suing when Catholic hospitals refuse to remove healthy organs as part of sexual-reassignment surgery. The California courts authorized a lawsuit against Dignity Health for discrimination in this regard, which I consider the most important religious-freedom case pending in the country. And now a new federal lawsuit has been filed in Maryland. From the Baltimore Sun story:

A Baltimore man has filed a federal lawsuit against the University of Maryland Medical System and its St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson, claiming he was discriminated against for being transgender when the hospital refused to perform his hysterectomy.

Jesse Hammons filed the suit Thursday in U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland stating the medical institutions violated his First and Fourth Amendment rights and the Affordable Care Act when they canceled the hysterectomy, a treatment for gender dysphoria, a week before it was scheduled in January, according to the suit.​

A style guide released by the Trans Journalists Association advises journalists to avoid common phrases such as “biological gender” or “opposite sex” in the name of inclusivity, urges them to generally avoid “narratives of detransition,” and encourages them to describe critical feminists as “transphobic” and “anti-trans.”

The style guide, signed by the likes of “queer genderqueer spiritual activist” and “radical copyeditor” Alex Kapitan and St. Louis Public Radio reporter and Trans Journalists Association founder member Kae Petrin, contends that “too much” of the media coverage on trans people and issues have failed both audiences and trans communities.

“The media bears a great responsibility when it comes to ensuring accurate and sensitive coverage of trans communities,” they stated, providing a style guide designed “to begin to improve trans coverage.”

While the guide covers a host of topics — from diversifying newsrooms to “avoiding harmful cliches and stereotypes” — it contains several specific calls which, if implemented by mainstream media outlets, would effectively silence opposition and erase the biological reality attached to the word “woman.”
