Deal With It

Nothing "remarkable" about beating Umass and Mercer. 2.9 years of utter mediocrity then a kind draw and all of a sudden he's john wooden.

You guys are in for a rude awakening when he loses Pearl's recruits. Reality sets in next year. Enjoy it.

shut up vandy fan your team is in far worse shape than ours.hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!......

I will admit that I was in favor of getting rid of Cuonzo earlier in the season and of course I wanted Bruce Pearl back (did not sign the petition) HOWEVER... after the vast improvement at the end of the season and a great tournament run almost to the elite 8 had it not been for that ridiculous call, I was excited about the future

THEN my heart kind of sank when I thought he might take the Marquette job because I really feel like the last thing we need at Tennessee is ANOTHER coaching change - and it probably wouldn't have been the coach we all would have wanted. So this is really the best scenario for us at this time - let's give the man a chance and see what happens next season. Stability is important here too guys! GBO!:good!:

Can't wait to bookmark this thread and when the wheels fall off (again) and the same happy folks are calling for his head again after celebrating this disaster, we can all just sit back and say wow.

I will bookmark also then we will see which of your type try and get on the bandwagon. It will be very funny.

Coach Martin didn't need your "support" before making a remarkable March run, and he doesn't need it now. The rest of you can go back to your spitting contests in the football and recruiting forums. I'm glad Hart demonstrated good judgment by letting Cuonzo continue to blossom into the fine coach he is becoming.

That's funny because Andy Katz and Gary Parrish both said the job was his if he wanted it, and that after his interview they thought he was theirs.

Do you have links for those BTO? I've heard about Katz from other media but wasn't aware of Parrish. Thanks. :hi:

You sound awfully excited about this. You want Tennessee to fail next year so you can be right?

Seriously, how do you call yourself a UT fan? You're a disgrace.

Some of the people who deny that CCM turned down Marquette are probably the same people that believe 15 coaches turned down the football job before Butch. They believe what they want. CCM had offer and Marquette had plan B ready to go. If Wojo was their guy he would have been hired before today....because he was available 9 days longer than CMM.....because unlike Wojo and his team, CCM whipped Mercer...... that patsy that beat Duke 2 days earlier.

There's nothing kind about winning 3 games in 5 days at two different sites. Nobody has ever claimed him to be John Wooden. The man deserves a fair chance to build his foundation for the program without unwarranted criticism. Again, go back to the football forum and play with the rest of the crazies. Tennessee Basketball doesn't need your support.

The way those stands looked Tennessee Basketball needs a lot of support and from everyone. I still don't believe CCM is the answer but now that he is here I will support Tennessee sports, whoever the "coach" is.

I do not know what game you were watching Stokes was about near the base line and attempting to drive to the basket, not at the three point line

I don't see how overall he hasn't met expectations?

Year 1 = Overachievement
Year 2 = Underachievement
Year 3 = Met Expectations

To me he has very easily over the course of his 3 years met expectations. The expectation next year will be to make the tournament and hopefully win a game or 2.

I would'nt call year 2 an underachievement. No Maymon, McRae did'nt bust out until 1/2 way through the year and Stokes was still developing. Yet they still finished in the top 5 SEC and improved on their win total from year 1. He's met my expectations year's 1-2 and totally exceeded them this year.

Funny how you gloss over the "play good defense" part as Richardson makes the All-SEC defensive team for 2014. His role was to normally stop the #1 offensive threat on opposing teams every single night, while Jordan took the lesser offensive player. In the 4 games you mentioned against UK and UF, he held Young and Frazier below their season average in 3 of those 4 games.

Exactly he likes to use statistics to prove his point but doesn't look at other areas (defense, etc.) where certain players may have been better than the ones he hold to such high esteem. I'm not saying McRae or Maymon are bad but some games they faltered in areas where other players stepped up.

When Martin made the tournament and won a game or two, my criticism ended. I will echo Hart in saying "that is the expectation at UT." He has my full support going into next season. But, the measuring stick doesn't change.

Exactly. ^^^^This

The thing is (and you would have noticed this if you had half a brain), we've had the same fundamental problems from day one.

How bad of a coach do you have to be to let Glenn Robinson Jr run last Maymon possession after possession before realizing you've got to go small ball to contend?

I just noticed this.

You do realize Maymon barely played against Michigan, right? 17 minutes total...he was in foul trouble the entire, time, which was probably deliberate.

But ... I wouldn't be talking about "half a brain" if I were you. I think you would be very fortunate to have even that much brain....:eek:lol:

Tennessee basketball fans need to wake up from their fantasies. Bruce Pearl is at Auburn. There is not another coach out there who even comes close to possessing Bruce Pearl's charisma. It is not going to happen.

We have a coach who is quiet and wins games. 19 wins, 20 wins, and 24 wins in successive seasons is not a bad thing.
