Deal With It

Let's see what happens when he doesn't have a stacked starting lineup.. I'm really not looking forward to it.

I cant wait until football season gets here and all this will go away for a while this is making my head hurt

Coach Martin didn't need your "support" before making a remarkable March run, and he doesn't need it now. The rest of you can go back to your spitting contests in the football and recruiting forums. I'm glad Hart demonstrated good judgment by letting Cuonzo continue to blossom into the fine coach he is becoming. Deal. With. It.

lmao

Nobody is John wooden.

Mercer is no joke. Beat Duke if you don't recall. The Michigan game said it all to me. I couldn't believe we almost won that game. That was all heart driven into them by Coach Martin toget back in that game. Michigan is outstanding team.

I was a Cuonzo detractor but he proved to me he can coach but the kids just took a while to buy into his style to play. Once they did it became evident

Close doesn't count except in horseshoes and handgrenades.

Not comparing Martin to Dooley, but I imagine this is what it would have looked like if Dooley had squeaked out a late win or two and saved his job a couple years ago. Part of the fanbase defending him and the majority looking like the string quartet on the deck of the Titanic.

Inconsistent???

In 36 games this year Jordan was held under double figures only 4 times. He had 9 points in 3 of those games. In two of the 9 point games we won by an average of 22.5 points. That's rock solid consistency.

Jordan was going to score for us this year, night in and night out.

While Maymon isn't counted on to score much, he was under 5 rebounds in only two games this season and one of those was a blow-out of Georgia. He was held under 5 points in 3 games. In two of the three games he scored under 5 points, he had 9 and 10 rebounds respectively and one of those was the 72-45 win over Missouri.

He averaged 10/8 for a reason, because he was very consistent.

Maymon was a turnover, fouling machine earlier in the year. McRae was spotty at times. Not saying either player is bad but give me Barton, Josh and Stokes any day.

Many Cuonzoners toss the players under the bus, especially ones who played for Pearl. First it was Cam not improving. Then it was Golden not playing defense. Earlier this year Jordy was a team cancer. Now he and Maymon were inconsistent.[/QUOTE]

Yeah just about everything you said above is right

So you are saying that these players have been coached up and played well. Who has been the coach the last few years? Sounds like you are a Cuonzoner

Incorrect. Maymon's turnover numbers were better all season long than they were in his break out year Zo's first year. He was only turning the ball over 1.4 times a game in the first 16 games of the season.

McRae was the picture of consistency. He scored 16+ points in 15 of the first 18 games.

Josh had 9 games where he scored 6 points or less during the first 18 games. He averaged 5.25 points per game in the 4 games against Kentucky and Florida this year.

Here's a fun fact. Jordan had more blocks, steals, assists and rebounds than Josh this season.

Josh played good defense, had an occasional good night during the season and had a hot tourney. But he's the one who was inconsistent this season, not Jordan. Josh would have 4 points one game and 14 the next, then 2, then 12.

There's nothing kind about winning 3 games in 5 days at two different sites. Nobody has ever claimed him to be John Wooden. The man deserves a fair chance to build his foundation for the program without unwarranted criticism. Again, go back to the football forum and play with the rest of the crazies. Tennessee Basketball doesn't need your support.

When you underachieve for three years with the talent that is on the teams he's had it's not unwarranted criticism it's a valid concern. There are some that go overboard with the bashing but to blindly follow without asking where you are going is just foolish in itself. If Martin is coach next year I hope he wins every game but if it takes the threat of him being fired to get his team to play then I'm going to question his leadership abilities. Finally, you aren't the one who gets to determine anything about anyone's fanhood and that's something you need to deal with.

Please do...because we've won so much the previous three years. Wasnt you on the fire martin bandwagon? I believe you was. It would be hard to find since you find it necessary to post 500 times a day.

He was but he called it "sarcasm" when Zo started winning lol

Did they ever say why they didn't watch any Michigan film? Or didn't know what they were watching? Or is being unprepared for the biggest game in years just another thing I need to deal with.

Wow the goody goody feeling of winning three NCAA games is already gone. Now a lot are saying they were all weak teams. Funny how a weak team beat Duke in what was almost a home game for them and won 26 games on the season. UMass also beat some top teams during the season. Iowa had some huge wins. Were a sweet sixteen team no matter how some want to downplay that it happened.

would you like a list of coaches who achieved more after year 6 than they did prior?

Oh Snap - is it too late to give Dooley another 3 years.

The reality is that there is some truth to both sides of this argument. Let's see how we do next year - I think it could go either way. If we lose Mr. Stokes things could get Nasty. Of the returning players I am only comfortable with Richardson and Moore on the court. That means potentially starting three freshmen, two freshmen and a transfer. What are we thinking here for an opening day lineup without Stokes?

in other news brucey boy hired his son as a strength coach at auburn. still cracks me up his son played when here. kid was awful compared to talent on the bench.

what talent is everyone screaming TN had? You could argue that McRae is an NBA talent and stokes could be if he develops face up game. the team didnt have a PG and Maymon was half of who he used to be.

Stokes has a face up game. The staff just decided they wanted his back to the basket where he is less effective for most of the year.

Maymon avg 10 ppg and 8 rpg while shooting 50+%.....I will take that half all day long.

Funny how you gloss over the "play good defense" part as Richardson makes the All-SEC defensive team for 2014. His role was to normally stop the #1 offensive threat on opposing teams every single night, while Jordan took the lesser offensive player. In the 4 games you mentioned against UK and UF, he held Young and Frazier below their season average in 3 of those 4 games.

Go cheer for Maryland or Georgetown. They seem more your speed.
