DC hire getting out of hand.

Just don’t understand why fans get upset about what a coach gets offered.

In my opinion, you have to pay big to play with the big dogs

Here’s how SEC coaches rank for total pay in 2020.
1) Nick Saban (Alabama) – $9.3M

2) Ed Orgeron (LSU) – $8.919M

3) Jimbo Fisher (Texas A&M) – $7.5M

4) Kirby Smart (Georgia) – $6.934M

5) Gus Malzahn (Auburn) – $6.928M

9) Dan Mullen (Florida) – $6.07M

7) Mark Stoops (Kentucky) – $5.014M

8) Mike Leach (Mississippi State) – $5M

9) Will Muschamp (South Carolina) – $4.37M

10) Eliah Drinkwitz (Missouri) – $3.925M

11) Jeremy Pruitt (Tennessee) – $3.846M

12) Lane Kiffin (Mississippi) – $3.764M

13) * Derek Mason (Vanderbilt) – $3.534M

14) Sam Pittman (Arkansas) $2.9M

We pay with the bottom feeders and somehow expect to be in the hunt???

At least other top programs try and we're sitting way down on the list.

Folks yaw need to take a step back and catch a breath. We all want the same thing. This program is as low as I've ever seen it in my 46yrs but we aint at rock bottom. We're still better than half the universities in the college world. We still talk about how bad Butch Jones was yet we had some of our better years in the last decade with him leading us. Honestly I thing he did exactly what he was initially hired to do. He had a ceiling and I think we all knew that. Obviously our selection of coaches are limited but I'm no way thinking we can't improve under JH. I think our DC hire is important but again we are not currently in the best position to attract the "BIG NAME HIRE" yet everybody had to start somewhere. My guess is JH will have to make staff changes here and there till we get past whatever sanctions is coming our way. If you have a track record of improving kids performance on the field it doesn't matter what universities they were at. A teacher is a teacher. Its probably gonna get worse before it gets better but I myself am willing to endure that to reset what we've been going through.

My guess would be the Head Coach saying the staff would be complete on Monday a week ago. I don't care if it takes a little time to get the right person but the HC shouldn't be making public statements about filling out a staff by a certain time and then having a week go by after his official date without having a staff hired. It obviously creates hysteria as you can see.
I think they thought they had their DC and someone got cold feet. Now they are scrambling to fill the spot. It seems to me the situation is an argument for more secrecy not less, meaning Heupel was a little too forthcoming with his schedule.

I don’t think taking tome to compete the hire is that big of a deal but getting publicly rejected by a linebackers coach is slightly embarrassing. And as I’ve said in other threads when we realized we were shooting for him (and I googled him)...I’m immediately was pissed we were going after him. Why the hell do we always go after the guy currently coaching at his freaking dream job? So frustrating we do it over and over again. He’s not leaving for anything other than a head coaching job. This dude will be the coordinator at Ohio state eventually. Why on earth would he leave? He’s not likely to be successful here. Heupel offense is going to make it hard for the defense to look good. Just like kiffin at ole miss. This dude will eventually get the job at Ohio state where he will look good. He was never going to leave. Kinda like Elliott amd Franklin. We need to stop going after unrealistic candidates. Aside from being turned down the time it takes doesn’t matter too much at this point. But Jesus...stop letting these guys use us to get raises from the schools that have zero interest in leaving.

The #1 conclusion to be drawn from this data: Ed Orgeron is the most overpaid individual in college football.

We just continue to roil in mediocrity at best and incompetency at the worst. White and Heupel screw the pooch more and more every day.

I bet LSU is pretty darn close to the top next season. Those young guys were clicking by the end of the 2020 season.

A ton of his players hit the NFL after they won the NC in 2019.

I hope you understand the difference between counting and forecasting.
That would be why I referred to it as counting in reference to a completed sale, like I described, but obviously your method of sales is focused on the things like wishes and dreams, but thanks for the further lecture professor.

No chance. 2nd place in the SEC West at best, and likely 3rd.

Lol
I said:

Not meaning that LSU would dethrone Bama in 2021, but the west is still superior to the east. The Gators won the east and LSU beat them in Gainsville at the end of the season.

LSU landed, 3 top 5 national recruiting classes, back to back to back

Spring practice starts in roughly 25 days, spring game is roughly 60 days.
Certainly, one can put together a solid, ready to practice, SEC level defense strategy in a couple of days. No problem. DC and position coaches not in place until a month before the Orange and White Game, why worry?

A missed LB assignment, Corner coverage, Safety read...... won't matter. It's not like we're facing Alabama, Georgia or Florida, right?

All I'll say is that I think the reason it is so easy for so many to imagine a bunch of stinking crap going on behind the scenes is because we have been served up so much stinking crap in plain sight the last 14 years as well.

It's being rumored that White will not let Heupel make his own hires.
Perhaps we all need to go out and ring our hands, throw up our arms and ultimately hang ourselves over all the rumors going around on Vol nation. Please, don't everyone go out and have a nervous breakdown just because we do not have a DC at this time.....................take a valium and be patient. If we all get this upset over Vol Nation maybe we should retreat to TWITTER !!!!!

How about we pay Al Wilson $1.5-2MM and call it a day. Could you imagine any recruit turning him down or not giving 100% on the field...I wouldn't dare come to the sidelines after a subpar effort.

Wish White would have grabbed up Montario Hardesty for RB Coach if he is pulling all the strings, scooped up by the Gamechickens. Which I think was an excellent hire and glad he is back in the SEC.

Professor?

Counting sales are looking back (Here is our new DC). Forecast is looking forward (We hope to announce a new DC).

Class dismisssed.
