Darrin Kirkland Transferring

 Bama's two starting ILBs are good, but only 1 guy behind them that's played any, and his 1 freshman season of PT was very limited. One of the starters will leave for NFL after 2018 season. Good opportunity for Kirkland. Come on down!

Was when healthy...so not often.

He had the best freshman season that I can remember for a linebacker at Tennessee in 2015. He played in all 13 games and started 10. He had 66 tackles (4th on the team) and played his best against our best competition. Against Alabama, he looked like a future All-American. He had 7 tackles and broke up a pass on 3rd down. He had 5 tackles and a 9 yard sack vs Florida.

DK Jr suffered a high ankle sprain in the Battle at Bristol in 2016 while having another great game (7 tackles and a sack) and there just isn't much to talk about after that. He was always hurt.

Sorry, but this is BS! Kirkland was given the best medical attention possible, We as fans have excused his injuries, and now that he is finally healthy, He says #@%# Yall, I'm going somewhere else! He has a chance to freakin Shine in this D! I hope he explains why! Ive always thought of him as a stand up guy! To quit now, with so much opportunity in front of him, Makes no sense!

It’s not all about football dude. Considering his medical history he probably knows his chances of having a football career are slim. Get wants to get his GRADUATE DEGREE somewhere else. Hope he becomes an expert in whatever field he’s pursuing and does well for his family.

First class all the way. Smh

Don’t care. If he goes to Florida then you wish him good luck at Florida. I will just wish him good luck at life. He’s earned the right to transfer. That gives us the right to not cheer for him. Kid has not done much for us due to injuries. So it’s not like we are losing a ton of production. You got a few likes. I am just speaking truth. Sometimes the truth hurts.

Was fun to watch his few years here, especially his freshman season . Wish him luck, but let’s get it Ignont .

Ignont , Peterson, Bituli , Sapp let’s ride

Just texted a friend (who was freaking out) this same thing. All 4 of those dude are faster and at this point either the same size or bigger than DKjr. I’m bummed we couldn’t see him grow and develop here, good luck to the man. That was a hell of a freshman year :) good memories.

 Bama's two starting ILBs are good, but zero depth behind them that's played a single snap. One of the starters will leave for NFL after 2018 season. Good opportunity for Kirkland. Come on down!

So we should release a grad transfer to play for Alabama when Saban has said he wouldn't release his grad transfer to play for Tennessee (or Auburn)?

Things that make you go hmmm...

When one of your best players is made of glass, there’s not much you can say. You can’t guarantee him playing time and you can’t depend on him for the long season. It’s probably best for both parties. He would probably have a tough time getting thru practices injury free. I wish him the best.

Tell Little Nicky to clear that OL to come here and we'll make the trade.

Even when he was healthy, he he wasnt an elite LB.

That's not true. He had a great freshman season in 2015. It's accurate to point out that he couldn't effectively play through a high ankle sprain when he returned in 2016 but when healthy, he was elite.

Hate to piggyback your opinion, but was thinking this might be a Pruitt move.

If it quacks like a duck? Kirkland would be starting over with a coach that is the polar opposite of what he’s used to. And with his injury history, that leash is microscopic.

No reason to be upset. Maybe part of the reason he wants to leave is to find a new beginning. He's gone through hell here with all the injuries and what not. Hope he finds success wherever he goes, but if it's a rival, I hope he plays poorly against us.

Apparently there are a lot of posters on VN that claim if they knew they were never going to advance at their current job, they would never leave for a job where they had a brighter future.

Personally, I think they're fos.

Best of luck to the kid. Honestly though, just not a big loss here.....did very little here due to injuries.
