Darrin Kirkland Transferring

So we should release a grad transfer to play for Alabama when Saban has said he wouldn't release his grad transfer to play for Tennessee (or Auburn)?

Things that make you go hmmm...
If Kirkland wants to come to UA, maybe a deal can be worked out. That was pretty much the point of my post. Hmmm...

You all good with Brandon Kennedy leaving UA for UT to play against his former teammates tho?

Don't use some super upset fan against us lol.... He doesn't speak for the majority. People who actually follow the team would realize that Darrin Kirkland was recruited over this season.

Notice, not everyone is saying harsh things about the kid. Some of us are wishing him well, no matter where he goes. I know you tend to overlook that with your weak troll attempts, so I figured I'd point that out for you.

Apparently there are a lot of posters on VN that claim if they knew they were never going to advance at their current job, they would never leave for a job where they had a brighter future.

Personally, I think they're fos.

Agree. It’s practically un-American.

The point is: one coach is against grad transfers within the conference and one isn’t.

When recruits realize they are indentured servants if they go to UA and still have an option to leave if necessary at UT, that will play big time into a recruits decision process.

Doubtful. How many kids choose a school thinking at some point they'll transfer out? Just don't see it as much of a factor in recruiting.

No reason to be upset. Maybe part of the reason he wants to leave is to find a new beginning. He's gone through hell here with all the injuries and what not. Hope he finds success wherever he goes, but if it's a rival, I hope he plays poorly against us.

Best wishes DKjr. Appreciate your time in orange.

This forum could learn a little about the value of measured response, dignity, and decorum from our political forum.

This place makes me ill.

I'm noticing you're not discussing this with the ones that told you they wouldn't have a problem if it were one of our graduates.

Maybe because we're all wishing him luck, just like we said we would?
Remember? It was during your 3 page tantrum in the recruiting forum, over Kennedy 😌

I think we all owe DKJr a debt of gratitude for his years as a Vol. New coaching staffs come with new directions, new values, and new priorities, and not all players already in the program will mesh. That's okay. No need speculate beyond that, it serves no one.

Wish Darrin the very best wherever he lands.

One look back at his contributions, especially in 2015 and 2016:

-- #34
-- Graduated with degree in Finance
-- hometown Indianapolis, Indiana
-- born 4 October, 1996

2015 - FRESHMAN SEASON
-- Played in all 13 games with 10 starts at MLB as a true freshman, maing 66 tackles (4th on team), 6.5 TFLs, 3 sacks, 1 INT, and 5 QB hurries.
-- Second in the SEC in tackles by a freshman.
-- Season high 7 tackles in a single game vs Alabama (10/24) and Arkansas (10/3).

2016 - SOPHOMORE SEASON
-- Played in 8 games, starting 6
-- Registered 7 tackles and 2 TFLs vs Nebraska in Music City Bowl.
-- Season high 9 tackles vs Mizzou (11/19) and App State (9/1).
-- Injured during Va Tech game (9/10), returned to play vs South Carolina (10/29)

2017 - JUNIOR SEASON
-- Out for the season after being injured during pre-season camp.

CAREER HIGHS
-- 111 career tackles, 11.5 TFL
-- 9 tackles in each of three different games (most recently vs Mizzou, 11/19/16)

I love UT football as much as anyone else, but sooner or later, some of you need to realize you're putting a game above a young man's future. As much as he's been through here, it's hard to blame the young man for wanting a fresh start. As is, his potential as a future NFL player is highly questionable simply because of his injury history. Wish him well and let him go. Maybe he can salvage something football wise, or maybe he plays one more year for love of the game then pursues a career in whatever field he majored in. Whatever happens, he's graduated from UT. He's earned the right to choose his next step. Stop acting like these guys are property.
