Daniel Lincoln (merged)

It's a damn shame one guy can waste the hard work of so many.

His leg has been hurt. His kicks have been low because he has had to drive them more for distance because he doesnt have the leg strength right now to kick 45+ yard field goals.
It is terrible that we lost, but to blame one guy for it is BS.

Boo hoo. He's been garbage for two years and he can sit and hold clipboards when a real kicker gets here next year. Lincoln is just another Fulmer virus the Kiffin administration has to eradicate.

Again, BS. What has he done other than play hard for his team, get hurt, and still go out and try and make plays.
Calling him a Virus is BS too.

He can't do his job. He sucked when he was healthy last year. The sooner he's done, the better.

There are a lot of people who didnt play well last year. That has nothing to do with the fact that calling him a fulmer virus is uncalled for.
If you have never tried to kick with a pulled quad, it is one of the most painfull things you can do.

I don't care what his malfunction is. He's out there and failed to do his job. I just hope his gimp arse doesn't have to try and contribute again this season.

This...I'm not 100% on this, but didn't Lincoln miss 2 field goals in the SECC game 2 years ago?
Yes. He also missed one to tie UCLA last year, and missed to tie USC a couple years go. At least he got another chance on that one. He hasn't exactly been clutch.

He's had two do or die kicks in his career. He shanked one as if he'd never kicked before at UCLA and hit Cody in the armpit with the other. That's his legacy at UT. Period.

And those 2 field goals turned out to be huge in that game, probably cost us a championship.

Had they tried another pass and gotten a holding penalty, a sack, or a pick, this board would have flamed Kiffin for not kicking it from 44.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't...

Depending on the play call, I could see people getting upset over the play. But, I doubt people would be saying that he should have run all that time off.

I can't believe I'm the only Vol fan who was sitting there questioning the decision while all that time was going away.

My confidence in winning was sky-high after Stocker's catch. I was ok with the running play. I was thinking 'run' as well. But, my heart began to sink when I saw that we weren't going to run another play after that. I could sense that the loss was coming before we snapped it.

I would like to have passed on 2nd down. But, with so much time left, we could have even run it again. A simple draw with Hardesty, let him get what he can, and then spike it.

Kiffin otherwise did an excellent job.

In fairness, he did make do-or-dies to tie UCLA in '08 and SoCar in '07. Otherwise, I'd agree.

To call him a Fulmer Virus is idiotic though. It is very easy to sit at a bar with a beer in your hand and complain about a player that is trying to contribute while hurt.

Yes Sir hat thats what I have been saying. Kid absolutely terrible and ruined it for the whole state of Tennessee. I mean why do we have a kicker that cannot kick it five feet off the ground. I know I sound childish but I really hate that kid right now :banghead2:
Its amazing how one person can screw it up for everyone else. If Im Kiffin I would not play him the rest of the year, he is inconsistent, and just a flat out bad kicker.

Words uttered by another UT Great!

Yesterday, our Coaches and Players played their hearts out. They deserved better than what they received from our kicker.

Those two so called blocked kicks, were not blocks at all. If you go back and watch the tape, the 1st kick hit Cody in the gut, and the 2nd kick was barely 6' off the ground when it got to the line of scrimmage. Yes there was penetration, but dang. Get some air under the ball.

This is another example of how poor our talent had gotten under CPF.

I am proud of this team. They took Bama to the brink and came up one Idiot Kicker short!

A bad kicker and a couple of O-linemen short.

I agree with you I can't believe we lost like this but i read a quote somewhere that CLK said he still hasn't gotten his strength back in his leg from his quadricep injury to be able to kick the ball high so he's been kicking them low. All i can say is I can't wait until Michael Palardy steps foot onto campus because then we won't have to worry about our kicker anymore.
