IF lincoln has a significant injury that affects his trajectory and distance, and
IF cunningham does not have the accuracy, then
why doesn't CLK use the remaining 38 seconds or so to try to get the ball closer? with a capable kicker he made absolutely the right call, as a penalty, sack, or turnover with no timeouts left loses the game. but with a guy who is very iffy past the 40 ...
You get more air off the ball, you miss a 40 yarder - not to mention once a defender gets one yard pass the line of scrimmage you can block almost any kick due to the angle. How about you don't let 40+ seconds run off the clock and get 10 more yards so the angle can be greater. Crompton was unbelievably accurate the final drive - go with the hot hand.
Now we know why kickers are the most hated guys in football. They don't have to practice like everyone else and then they go out and miss FGs...All they have to do is kick...if I did nothing but kick for three hours a day at practice, I think I could hit FGs...time to have halftime contest, I'm goin' to start practicing right now...
He can, he just didn't.
This is where getting Palardy will be huge. But letting Cody get through the line so easily on the last kick is inexcusable; I don't care how big Cody is.
UT needs to recruit a good kicker. Lincoln doesn't have it.
Well, this seems like the most appropirate thread to put this in. My first casualty in the Kiffin era was the ceiling light fixture/ fan in my bedroom. Happened on the last kick or lack thereof.
