Da Reds thread

Riggleman's name keeps coming up as a serious candidate since he is at Louisville now. Another serious candidate may be Jim Tracy. He is originally from Fairfield (Hamilton) nearby. He and the Rockies fell out over their rebuild and his contract while Riggleman bolted the Nationals mid-season in 2011 over his contract. Will see how it shakes out, but either one is an improvement.

It just hit me - Walt and Bob got into my pocket again. I will be buying tickets and stuff as I head up for games next spring. And for the first time in recent memory, I really don't mind.

Now we are getting somewhere on all this. Dusty did it to himself. lol. Classic.

Baker challenged Reds GM: 'If you want to fire someone, fire me' - CBSSports.com

This also makes the point I made previously. Ownership sat on their azzes betting on the come that the team would get a run going. They passed on the deal the Pirates made after them (Byrd) that gave them the shot in the arm the needed to get better. They passed on several opportunities to upgrade and shake things up during the season.

Jim Day was quoted today as saying "the Price is right" like he usually says in the telecasts of games.

I would love to see the manager from Tampa get this job.

Terry Francona would be a good get. Long shot because he just got started in Cleveland. On the bright side, that city is used to people leaving for greener pastures.

You may have just named 2 of the least 3 likely names.

I acknowledged that with Francona. Bad situation and will never happen.

Madden is the one guy high on MY wish list. Probably another real long shot.

A guy can dream right??

What are thoughts on Scoscia? I would like to keep price, but not sure how much fire he can bring. Would hate to lose him for selfish reasons. Guy has done a great job as the pitching coach and the players seem to love him. Guy is sharp.

Just read an article that said Price, Riggleman, and wait for it............ LaRussa were the 3 names to watch.

No way Tony LaRussa comes out of retirement IMO.

The roster is a great deal better than it was 6 years ago. It has to be attractive to some really good candidates this time around since they are only a couple of guys and better chemistry away from competing for it all.

That's not saying that Price is not the guy. They just need to do some serious due diligence and get the right guy that can get them playing as a real team instead of this silliness. It was really, really embarrassing this season.
