Da Reds thread

The Reds signed 16 year old Jonathan Perez to $825,000 deal. He's from venezuela, 6'4" 200 LBs, and has touched 92 mph with his fastball. Hopefully Sab or G8terH8terEric can get us some shirtless pics of this guy.

Jesus, he is going to be a big dude

Jay Bruce continues to prove he's nothing more than the morphing of Adam Dunn and Austin Kearns. Another in the long line of gutless, overhyped, outfield slugs the Reds have run out there for the last decade. Professional loser.

He's a better hitter than Dunn, but needs his eyes checked. The guy can't adjust, and it is ridiculous. The worst problem he has is coaching, because when he starts falling back into his bad habits, rather than work with him, Dusty decides he just needs a day off. It's ****ing stupid.

Doesn't matter, imagine what a proper diet and workout regimen will do for a 6'4 200 pound kid

I didn't mean it bad. Most players coming in from latino countries are several years older than they state. And yes you're right.

No big, wasn't taking it that way. Isn't Danny Almonte a grandfather now?

Haha. And one of the many reasons I don't want my Cards to give all that coin to Albert. I'd love to find a way to keep him but we aren't the Yankees and cannot afford that much chinga for one player. He should be our highest paid but not that much.

Cueto deserves a great deal of credit for carrying this team right now. Without him, the season would be a complete and unmitigated disaster.

Kid is quickly becoming an ace. Glad they actually got him a win today

Also, if the Reds can't win the series this weekend, they might as well ship Hernandez and start planning for next year

I wouldn't consider trading Hernandez to be waving the white flag. Who's to say Mesoraco isn't ready? If they can get good value for Hernandez, I say trade him regardless of the standings.

I can be down with that

Hear the bravos are interested in gomes. They should get rid of him regardless of a bobblehead night if there is any such interest.

We couldn't possibly be so lucky. Addition by subtraction. I don't care how bad Yonder Alonso is in the outfield, he can't possibly be worse than Gomes, and certainly would be a better bat. (unless the Reds are dealing Yonder to the Rockies for Ubaldo, but I don't see that happening. At this point, an impact outfield bat is needed far more than any pitching help, in my opinion.)

I just can not see this management still going after Ubaldo after they announced the amount it would take to land him. Walt is the type guy that sits on what he has, and I just do not see him giving up that much for one guy.

If we can get something for Gomes than they need to pull the trigger at the first offer. Dusty can cry for a few days, but this team will get over it in a hurry. Besides Alonso, we still have guys down in AAA that can play better than Gomes.

Another trade chip/Yonder replacement the Reds have is Neftali Soto. Formerly highly regarded prospect has raked in AA this year after having a couple down seasons the last two years. Has a slash line of .279/.339/.598 (.937 OPS) as a 22 year old with 18 homers.
