Current O-Line=bad fit?

I think it has to completely do with the run calls. Two weeks in a row we line up in the I and power I and we run it down their throats. Zone reads, sweeps, and draws... I'm over it.

1. This is the SEC, not the pros.

2. I'm still waiting for someone to show where a team that doesn't run the ball well, yet throws it well, wins the SEC. I'll be waiting for a while on that, and even if one example is given, the exception doesn't make the rule.

we need a balanced atk for sure, the run game isn't there

LSU beat Bama last year, and ran for more yards than they did. Bama returned the favor in the BCSCG though. No one will beat those teams, because that's what they are built to do, we aren't, so we don't have a shot to beat those teams right now.

Those teams had an estimate of over 50 players that would play in the NFL. You are delusional to think we can be a power team and push around that kind of talent, size, strength and depth.

You mean the same size and talent that gave up 4 or 5 sacks to W. Kentucky yesterday? That talent?

It is all about who can score the most points, if running the ball is not going to give us the best chance of scoring and throwing will....throw the ball.

Getting sacks on a qb in a meaningless game is the same as running it down the throat of their D that is 2 deep in future NFL size and speed?

I didn't know that.

I think we don't have the class of RB we've enjoyed for a generation at UT, but I do believe we could get more out of the running game, and I think it could only help Bray and Co.

That and what formations we choose to run out of. The pistol formation needs to be thrown in the trash heap. And I would like to see us mix it up under center to keep the opposing defenses off balance. It becomes predictable when you only run from under center and never throw the ball.

I agree. Absolutely cringe when I see the pistol formation. Give me the I formation and start hitting them holes quick and hard. Don't have statistics to back it up but just doesn't seem we are successful much running from the pistol. If we rush for over a 100 next weekend we win if not we lose that simple.

The point is smart arse, you can do what you set your mind to do.

With all due respect, if you keep making points that i refute with a statement, it doesn't necessarily mean I am being a smartass. I am just making a quick point that your point doesn't make sense.

And to your point, TN being a power running team and wearing out bama's interior D Line can't be accomplished just because our guys "set their mind to it". For the 100th time, we are not set up that way. We don't play the scheme or have the rb to do it, and we have a record setting qb getting the snap every play.

Good grief you are dense. Where do you get we just want to be a power running team at?? No one has mentioned it, and all we are trying to get across is we need a good running game to compliment Bray. Whether it's between the tackles, like most on here would prefer, or pulling guards to toss sweep it, as long as we are running the ball effectively, we have the capacity to beat anyone. UF will make us one dimensional, if we can't run the ball, and so will any other top-tier SEC level defense.

So, stop focusing on being a power running team, because we are just talking about running the ball period.

You haven't refuted anything. History says, if you cannot run the ball, you will not succeed in the SEC.

The folks here that just want our O to just "sling it" are in for a mighty rude awakening when we get into SEC play. You go as far as you're running game and defense will take you in this league.

Because being physical in the running game, wears down a defense much more, and kills the clock, versus trying to have a pass first offense. Don't know how many times this has to be discussed, you HAVE to run the ball well to play for the SEC crown, and win it for that matter.

We aren't a power running team. Just because you say we have to be wont make us magically become one. We just have to run enough to make teams respect it. I believe we will.

Who has said we just want the team to sling it? Most have said what I have. Run well enough to make teams respect it.

Wait until we don't run the ball and then cry about it. So far the run game looks to be improved.

I'm not making fun of Tyler Wilson in any part of this post. (just had to put that out there)

Watch what will happen to Arky now that Wilson is hurt. They cannot run the ball and are a pass first offense.

Hey bipolar man, don't start this crap again today and stop trying to dictate what I am saying. I don't know who your refer to as "we" anyway. I'm not arguing with your whiny ass as to if we need to run the ball or not. Obviously balance is best. That's damn common sense. If we run for 175 yards against Florida as we have the first 2 games, I don't care where we got it, or how many big plays it came in. I am aware the running game isn't great, and I am aware more than you will ever be as to the multiple reasons why, from coaching, scheme, strengths, weaknesses, rb ability, etc.
I was referencing the commentary in regards to wearing down the DL of the opponent by running the ball at them. We are not a team that is built to wear down the DL by running the ball.
So, in summary, don't try to give me football, or life for that matter, lessons. And don't stick your nose in a dialogue by calling someone dense, especially when you don't know wtf you are getting into.
