Current O-Line=bad fit?

I'm sorry but I really don't understand the extreme pessimism from some on this board. Our offensive line is really good in pass blocking and growing when it comes to run blocking. Also last week we complained a lot about Neal and Young not getting up-field. Did anyone notice the adjustment this week? Rarely did Neal and Young run east-west, but rather they hit the hole hard. These complaints about not rushing for 250 yards to me are kind of silly, due to the fact that it's not our style and why stifle our point production by forcing the run all the time. It's like complaining that the Yankee's don't steal enough bases. Why should they steal more bases when they drive the ball and hit home runs so well? Maybe I'm wrong, and well suck running from now on. I just feel a different vibe from this team and that makes me confident.

I think Bama gave up quite a few sacks as well.

Alabama sucks! Alabama has to run the football more! Alabama needs a new offensive coordinator!

Why does Alabama use a zone blocking scheme!!!

Alabama needs a new head coach!

The reality of this place is that if we had run for 300 yds and only thrown for 150 people would b***h that we couldn't throw well enough to win in the SEC.

look guys here is the fact

Watson is the only running back running like chaney wants

maybe that is his style or is listening to chaney cause it is his first year

Watson is the only RB that is going all out for the play called that i have seen

or hell maybe he is just very good or very lucky or we finally wore them down

but hey there was no hesitation in his runs>>>>>>>> he is the only one of the 4 RBs that hesitation may more than likely lead to a big play

Truthfully we will see reality this week. Ga St. is a stat padding game even for bad teams.

We ll get a chance to prove we can move the ball and score points against a legit D this week.

No, the reality is, in order to see that we are capable of winning the East, we need to see that we can do something other than just pass the football, especially when it's 3rd and less than 5 yards.

I'm trying to figure out if you're serious with that comment, or just trolling. If you are serious, I don't want what you're having.

Past performance does not guarantee future results. The RBs don't have to prove anything. We just need to win.

Are we a team that will be undefeated, probably not. Are we improving?

We will see how much we have improved this week.

Why does it matter how we get those yards? Is it not the same first down if it's a run or a pass? We will run the ball enough to keep Florida honest. That's all we need.

Because being physical in the running game, wears down a defense much more, and kills the clock, versus trying to have a pass first offense. Don't know how many times this has to be discussed, you HAVE to run the ball well to play for the SEC crown, and win it for that matter.

Not so sure its best to try to beat bama and lsu at their own game. We aren't a power running team. No matter how much you want us to look like bama, we don't, and won't for a long time, if ever.

And we won't beat them either, unless we can wear them down consistently.

If a defense like UF does not have to respect the run they can tee off on Tyler.
You can have the best wr's in the world, won't help you much if your qb is laying on his back.

So a running play up the middle wears down defensive linemen more than pass rushing? Really?

What's harder for big McCullers, too hold the center at the line of scrimmage and make a tackle somewhere between the LOS and 4 yards down field or....

To chase a QB around the field 40-50 times a game?

You can't seriously believe that running the ball wears a team down more than passing.

Besides lsu and bama, what team in the country can wear down bama and lsu?
If you think the only way to beat them is for us is to wear down their NFL developmental defenses coached by the best in the business, you are more loony than I thought. If UT tries that, we will never beat them again. Ever.

maybe I'm wrong but it seemed to me that the second team O-line opened up better holes than the starters. I know G state was worn down some by then, but it still seemed like there was better movement out of the second crew.

McCullers isn't out there to rush the QB, he's out there to take up room, and he doesn't chase a whole lot of people once they break out of the backfield. Also, what's harder, chasing down a statue of a QB, or dealing with a 220lb RB that runs a 4.5?? So, yeah, running the ball most definitely takes a bigger toll on the defense, than trying to defend the pass.

I disagree with the last part. I want to say we had 7-10 runs out of the shotgun and a decent amount of passes from under center. We only threw 20 times today anyways.

I wish we had a mauler at FB too.

Bart does good when they actually put him in the backfield.

This is a head scratcher. How long have you been watching football? Constantly hitting a defense in the mouth with a power running game can break their will to fight. See lsu and uga tonight. Washington and mizzou couldn't get to the locker room quick enough. That being said I don't think our running game has the ability to do this. Maybe in a few years we will. I can hope.

Best shot you have at doing anything with either of those Ds is balance.

Liken it to boxing, power running is a body blow that takes its toll. The pass is the hay maker, that can lay someone out.
