It never ceases to amaze how bent out of shape people get over sports talk personalities.

In general I enjoy Cowherd's show. I don't agree with him on this mostly because I don't think TN has the stones to fire a coach 4 games into the season.

But what the hot heads need to realize is Cowherd does not hate TN. I wouldn't call him a fan but he is a fan of traditional powers in CFB. He has been hoping TN would return for years. He picked TN to be in the playoffs last year and strongly believes, like many on this board, that coaching is the reason we weren't.

So take his opinion with a grain of salt.

It was kinda funny. Plus, this was totally a compliment to UT football imo. He said over and over how important football is to us. He knows UT fans expect perfection

Is this guy fer real? Ut is not in the best financial shape to be paying a 10 million dollar buyout.. Not to mention this idiot thinks ut will turn on the coach on a dime. They may prove me wrong but idk.

It's not $10 Million after 2017.

After this season, buyout is $2.5 million/year left on the contract (3), minus the pay he gets from taking another job (mitigation clause).

If it were to happen, it would be less than $7.5 million unless Butch just decided he was done coaching, and it would probably be spread out over 5 years, similar to Fulmer's and Dooley's payouts.

Why is it hard to believe that Butch is gone if he loses to Florida and GT? People dont like Cowherd because he is usually right. I remember when he was trashing Dooley on the radio and a bunch of you guys were running around with your pitchforks. He was right then and he's right now. Butch is coaching for his job.

Even if he loses games. He won't be fired. Not until people stop showing up to the games. Soon as season ticket sales fall off, they will get those wheels in motion.

No admin that is sane is going to spend $7.5 million dollars just to hurt their own cash flow by having season ticket sales fall off.

The general fan base outside of sports fanatics is happy. If Jones beats Florida and Georgia this season and is reasonably effective against Alabama, like in 2015, He's probably golden. He likely even gets extended. Especially with his new agent.
