I agree. I would add arrogant and condescending too.

As far as Cowherd. He's a douche.
Many of us agree RE:VN's own Felix Unger layin' it down. Jeeeez! Cowherd? He's a northwest peckerhead.

Another "Colin Cowherd Needs Attention" media spectacle. And who does he go after? That's right. It's THIS easy to feed the trolls in our fanbase. Back in your hole, Colin, and whatever network you're on this week. We've been thru enough in last 8 years or so to need any of your criticism. That goes for everyone else that's pushing this hot seat agenda.

... what a moron.

I'm one of the resident "evils" for making people face some inconvenient facts here. But this is ridiculous. Jones' seat is warm and losses to GT and UF would make it very difficult for him to survive.... however Cowherd's hate is irrational.

Read post...read article...saw who was saying what about whom...and as usual my immediate reactions were...

Why is it hard to believe that Butch is gone if he loses to Florida and GT? People dont like Cowherd because he is usually right. I remember when he was trashing Dooley on the radio and a bunch of you guys were running around with your pitchforks. He was right then and he's right now. Butch is coaching for his job.
People here are mortified of change. It's easier to tell themselves Butch is here through 2018 no matter what.

Cowherd is about all things USC and thus also Lane Kiffin. I've never seen a commentator let his bias influence his opinions more than that idiot.

As a result of his love for Lane Kiffin (who Cowherd was mentioning as an equal to Nick Saban early in Kiffin's tenure at USC), Cowherd will never have an unbiased take on UT. Best to just ignore him IMO.

You know you might be onto something there. He was a guy the was fascinated by Kiffin, and maybe that's his connection to Vol "fandom".

Maybe "some" are uncomfortable with changing coaches because of our history of hiring coaches.

Some people, most commonly kids and women, make decisions based on emotion rather than reason and logic.

We all have our opinions, and for different reasons. I want Butch to succeed here and make us all glad he did. I'm uncomfortable with going through a coaching change, not so uncomfortable that I won't want to if that's what needs to happen though, and you really should be too. But, if he loses enough in the front end of this season for me to want him replaced, I hope our administration has enough sense to wait until at least after regular season.

I don't necessarily disagree with him. Maybe he's being dramatic, sure, but he's an entertainer.

He's always liked TN and the TN fan base. He bought in big time with the Vols last year (preseason #4 on his list). Butch crapped the bed, and he ain't buying in no more.

The Vols go 1-2 (probably 0-1) and chaos will ensue in Knoxville.

One thing about Cowherd...He has the utmost respect for UT. He considers UT one of the top 10 jobs in the country and a gold standard job. He just doesn't like Butch. Doesn't think he can get it done. Thinks he's a gym teacher. He is entitled to his opinion after what we have seen from Butch so far.

I like Butch. But the mess about what he inherited when he got here has to go. This is year 5 (6?) and he has had the time to get his guys in there. It's time to put up or shut up. He blew his opportunity last year when we had a ton of NFL talent on the roster. Injuries or not, we should have beaten Vandy and South Carolina and gone to the Sugar Bowl. That was on leadership and coaching. Here's to hoping we see a changed Butch and a team that plays with an edge.

But your emotions have you wanting him fired during season.

:focus:

I'm just calling it like I see it. Butch isn't good enough to win anything of significance. I have little confidence in our AD and boosters to hire the best possible candidate. Tennessee probably isn't about to win the SEC anytime soon, but I would at least prefer to gives ourselves a chance, which we aren't doing with Butch.

Didn't we damn near win the east last year, and the snakes in the swamp needed a hurricane to weasel their way in?

I see NO reason we couldn't win the east this year TBH. My biggest concern is Hall being out puts a lot of pressure on the oline to perform early.

Cognitive dissonance.

FL didn't "weasel their way in". We blew it. Plain and simple.

I understand.

I don't know if Butch is good enough to win anything of significance, I have my doubts just like others do. I just don't understand how you can say you have little confidence in our administration and boosters, and be so anxious about putting this at their feet.

Worn out discussion.

If we're 2-3 in our first 5, good chance Ill be over Butch and will dread the coaching search, but ready to go with it. But hope they wait until after season.

If they were to hire someone we all agreed on, lol, and was a big name, it's possible he would have to deal with the same things Butch has had to, and he could leave before even getting started. Can you image the results of that?

I don't know man, I don't Love or worship Butch, but I'll say it again....We need Butch to get this done!

If waiting meant the difference between hiring Chip Kelly or an off the radar group of 5 coach with a few winning seasons under his belt, would you still want them to wait? If they replace Butch, I think they have to bring in a big name. You can replace a Dooley with a Jones, but I don't think you can replace a Jones with a CUSA/MAC/Sun Belt level guy.

Pretty sure florida was about to have their ass handed to them and we had the east wrapped up until the florida AD used the NON hurricane as an excuse to get them extra time to heal up and prep.

Seeing as how during the AD search some of us were corrected in our misunderstanding concerning the Vols' top booster's level of personal involvement in the program, it's possible that he is ready to make one big run at a whale before his time is up. I just don't see anything changing this season. I think the experts are correct and we're a 7/8 win season. That's not good enough to restore faith in those with doubt and it's not bad enough to break the faith of those who still have it. At most, it will probably knock a few more folks into the apathetic camp.
