Could it be Chaney?

Might have already been posted. I listened to DM this morning and for the first time that I've heard him say it, he said that he believes the person we had targeted and planned to hire went somewhere else. He did not drop a name. Apparently, this is an open search.

This seems the most likely explanation to me. Maybe he had zeroed in on Freeze at first but then Freeze got the HC offer at a place where he can get his reputation back. Once that happened, Pruitt decided to take his time and dig through the whole field. Also gave him opportunity to hear from each coach on their philosophy, which is useful even if he doesn't want them.

Same kind of bowl loss Saban’s Bama had against Utah...season before his first national championship there.
Yeah I almost included that in the post. Certainly not suggesting KS won’t get that corrected and win a N.C. but I was just stunned that the Bulldogs played the way they did.

I was in my regular Saturday foursome yesterday and one of the regulars bailed because his wife was expected to go into labor at any moment with twins. We all gave him a hard time for being such a pansy and letting his wife shame him out of playing. But that’s neither here nor there. We ended up having another guy join us who happened to be a pretty big fish inside UT athletics.

Nice guy. Could use some work on his short game. And his long game too, now that I think about it. After the turn and a few cold beers he started yapping about the OC search. He told me it was going to be Cheney or someone on bama staff, who he would not reveal. TIFWIW...he seemed genuine enough to me.

For the record, my buddy’s wife did not go into labor until after we were in the clubhouse grill. He could have played, had a few colduns, and still made it to the hospital in time for the labor. He’s never going to live this down.
I DID play the day my wife went into labor and 36 years later I still hear about it. Can’t remember what I shot but it was worth it.

Oh good. I thought he meant Prima Donna and he was making a fool out of himself
Apparently you missed the post I responded that to, or you would've understood why I said "pre Madonna "

It is interesting that so many people are giving Chaney a free pass for a poor offensive performance with almost all 4- and 5-star talent in the Sugar Bowl, while many here blamed Helton for not putting up 40 points per game after inheriting arguably the worst offensive line in UT history.

I think Chaney would be a good hire, mind you ... just find it interesting how home-fans evaluate their own OCs much differently than other teams' OCs. I suspect a similar thing going on with Georgia fans right now.

1.2 million will make people expect results. Although I agree about the OL. Still think situational playcalling could've been better at times. But there were times I thought the same with Chaney and Butch

This is what happens when a recruit is loyal to a coach. The coach is rarely loyal to his players. If a better opportunity comes along they take it and they should.
Yeah I agree. Coaches are mercenaries but colleges kind of make them that way. You put enough money on the line in anything and usually it becomes corrupt

Can't take your post about the UT OC hire serious when a coach was at UT for 4 years and speculated to be back. Yet, you can't spell his name!!! =)
