Could it be Chaney?

I'd be happy with any... including Martin, mainly because it would mean our offense would remain pretty much the same in line with Helton's offense (USC connection) and I truly think he would be successful here if he is aloud to run his offense without Heltons interfering.

He did that last year at USC and got fired for how bad it was. We really want Tee, while they, another big time program, are locking down Kingsbury? That would be such a great example of why we've stunk for so long.

If it is Chaney, it would be interesting that Pruitt would be choosing the guy that he completely shut down in the second half of the NC game last year.
Its the Tennessee way... we hired jones who couldn't beat dooley.. but I'll take chaney in a heartbeat..

Don’t know how much better we can do!

Briles, Yurcich, many others have better averages.

What is Chaney's career average ppg?

Titles? Chaney, in about 20 years, has won 1 conference title. That's a long time to win so little.

He apparently doesn't recruit much.

How much of his mediocre success is Pittman?

Well, yeah, because the logic is downright dumb. Oh, jeez, our new coach coming from dII lost to our SEC talent, can't hire that guy!

Why is that a “should have”? Chaney’s contract hasn’t OFFICIALLY ended. When is the end of the academic year?

His contract doesn't have to be ended. Helton's contract was not ended, Briles was not ended. The contract doesn't have to be expired to hire them.

It's really not specific. 247 said most contracts are through the academic year.

I saw somewhere on Twitter by a reporter that Chaney’s contract expired 4 days ago. No word of any negotiations either.

He would be a great hire. Remember what he did with Crompton? Peterman? Let’s not forget this guy coached OL in the league. We would be absolutely lucky to have him.

Crompton? You mean our highest rated QB recruit since Manning? What an achievement to get him to a 136(!) qbr as a SENIOR. 13 picks. For comparison, JG had a 141 qbr as a sophomore this year. Sorry if I'm not impressed.

What DID he do with Peterman? Maybe you're misremembering, but he was there in 2015, when Peterman has a 136 qbr. It was 2016 when he hit a whopping 163 qbr.

The year before Chaney came to Pitt - over 6.15 ypp and 31 ppg. The year after he left - over 6.7 ypp and 40 ppg. Chaney's year? Less than 5.8 ypp and 28 ppg. Man, what a wizard!

Dude just treads water any time he doesn't have a ton of talent to work with. Once he does have a crazy amount of talent, he does what would be expected, nothing more. No Oklahoma, Clemson, Bama, OSU, Ok St, etc offensive numbers, yet he has the talent to match or exceed right now, so why can't he?

Exactly! Having an expired contract is just a bonus because there is less red tape to cut through.

I think he spent the entirety of this past season struggling to find a way to use Georgia's offensive weapons.

They have some guys who could've actually made bubble screens and end-arounds work in the SEC...

That was a big, big concern of uga fans. Insane speed talent with Hardman, Ridley, and others. Crazy talent in Nauta underutilized. That talent would be embarrassing folks with Oklahoma's or Bama' systems and Chaney takes it all and puts out a decent #14 scoring offense. I call that failure with that much talent. Think Clemson or Bama would accept 36 ppg? They're putting up 44 and 48 respectively.

Dawgs are very upset at Chaney, Fields leaving, and other players declaring early. Would be a nice get for us to take advantage of their chaos. Not sure if he fits the fast paced style Pruitt is considering but Chaney knows how to call plays.

He's been doing this in a variety of systems since the 90s. I doubt knowledge would be Pruitt's hangup if he were considering him. The guys resume' cannot be questioned.

Considering Fulmer kind of left the cupboard bare with regards to OL and Dooley didn't recruit any. I would say Chaney did a great job all three years, especially 2010 and 2012. Also, the D didn't get off the field to give the O the ball enought to have better numbers!!! In 2012, Sal's D gave up 36 ppg. Had Dooley not hired a terrible DC. UT probably goes 9-3 and Dooley keeps his job. Chaney's O was a plus on the football team for 4 years, not a negative. Chaney is a great OC, possibly elite. Do all the research behind the numbers and consider ALL FACTS and STATS not just one that you want to post to be right!!!

I did lol. That's exactly why I was posting ALL of the Chaney/Dooley years, not just 2012. I was replying to someone that incorrectly said Chaney averaged 475 yds/game under Dooley, when that was ONLY 2012. I'm trying hard to bring ALL the facts when so many only remember 2012 and not the rest.

I am posting facts and stats while people just keep repeating good memories and feelings. I don't operate on good feelings.

UT's O with Pittman coaching the OL also was better in 2012. If UT could somehow poach Chaney and Pittman from UGA, most would love the hires! Pittman and company have recruited a ton of OL studs to UGA. We need those studs coming to UT!!!
Dream on.

Could say that, though Debord has the best average numbers. I think both had pretty good talent, though Chaney had a better OL.

That is very questionable and can't be proven. Chaney had two walkons on the OL his first year. He didn't have much OL talent at all thanks to Fulmer failing to recruit stud OLs his last couple of years, Kiffin and staff not getting a bunch of stud OLs in one year, and Dooley COMPLETELY dropping the ball on getting OL. Dooley's not recruiting studs for the trenches and hiring SUCK SAL lead to him being fired.
