Cooper

It really was the place to be then, and I have so many fond memories of it. I remember you and some of the others on this board who were also there. For the life of me, I cannot remember my screen name there, but I posted a lot then. I know it had something to do with my Jackson, MIssissippi days.

It was a lot of fun
Also the Espn board was a hoot and perfect place for lvs and uconn fans to do battle

ultimately absolutely true it is all on the coach..... which brings the question why couldnt she get her recruits to buy in?
Because she was recruiting a different type of kid to play her system. She’s never had access to a program like Tennessee, she’s had to get the blue collar, second tier with something to prove. Here she plugged in better players into a system that didn’t work. Losing makes everyone not buy in.

It will be interesting to see what KC can do next year. The narrative is that she can do absolutely nothing, but she wasn't helped by Whitehorn's antics requiring dismissal, the Pauldo twins' focus on building their brand above the team, and Cooper's hit and miss effort. Barker did not seem like a good team fit either. I will miss Hurst and Boyd, two underused players, imo. I liked Latham as well.

Caldwell has no margin for error, and she must build the roster wisely and examine her own failures in the why this team quit (toughest thing for a coach to do).

Let her go to LSU, I won’t care. Kim mullet yells at players and this player has said she doesn’t like when a coach yells at her, she’s mentally weak. She also likes to yell at coaches and brush them off, let her go to LSU, and watch how long Mulksy will deal with that behavior.
exactly my thoughts as they say "That dog don't hunt" in baton rouge attitude with kim will get you a seat on the bench

I’m not even inspired enough to take up arms against the AD.
I have nothing personal against Coach, but how the hell does she survive this?
They really are going to hang on for one recruit, and what happens if she changes her mind?
This program is bigger than any coach and any player.
It’s time to move on. I hope I’m eating these words in a few years.

Now we will find out if the seemingly-obvious problem with the culture was the coach or the players.

If it was the players, and HCKC brings in a new roster and gets them to buy in, and they play hard each and every game, then it was (mostly) the players.

If she brings in a new roster, and the same issues show up, and most of them leave after one year, then it’s the coach. And time to remove the coach.

I am totally in the wait-and-see mode about this. Time will tell.

So much I could say but tired lol 😂 but you are right she has no room for error and that’s not a great place to be in the SEC

I think she can bring in players that can play hard but if they play hard and get blown out that won’t help the cause or for me warrant another year … I think we finish 6th- 10th in the sec again next year and that in itself would warrant her removal as they two previous coaches far exceeded that.

I got into it frequently with Sybil on the old board, but she was still nice enough to copy some game tapes (VHS format!) and leave them on her porch for me. Even gave me directions to her house. What a different world we live in now.
Nothing says “things are going great”‘than all of us waxing nostalgic about the SummiTT from 20 years ago

Agree, but this leaves out an important piece:

This. If she gets buy in, and I cant imagine she’d sign any player with the remotest indication of less than 1000% in, and they continue to get blown out against good teams that will tell us the system was the heart of the previous playerss’ problem.

Hey, you forgot to list how many turnovers she averaged per game, or non-boxouts, or blow by layups?
Like I said, heck of an offensive player, besides the bad shot selection in crucial situations, but grade of D on the defensive end & D- for attitude/effort.
I got to watch her on the court a few times in practice during Kellie's last season and she was fantastic. Reminded me so much of a young Jordan Horston.

Hopefully her new team will give her the coaching and game strategy to maximize her talent. A better nutritional and strength program would be beneficial, too. She's a rare talent that needs to be given the opportunity to showcase her skills.

This is a full reset with zero continuity, zero leadership, and no identity. That’s the problem with building an entire new team.

Chemistry isn’t something you flip on in October. Leadership doesn’t magically appear when everyone is new. That stuff gets built over time—and right now, there’s nothing to build on. If you thought this year looked bad, wait until you see a group of girls who barely know each others names.
Which was the same we had this year. No leadership, continuity or identity.

I saw Coop for the first time in person at one of those practices, and immediately thought she was the closest to Rickea level talent that I had seen around here.

Coops physical did look troublesome this year, she came in noticeably heavier. Definitely needs to be in better shape.

Boosters stepped up this year—DW wouldn’t even return the calls.

Players went to him directly—he made it clear nothing was changing.

So the only message left was the roster itself… a steady stream of exits that started before the season even ended.

And Danny White’s response? Basically: “cool. What’s for lunch”
I hope the Benjamins are speaking loud and clear to him this season.

I hope season ticket renewals come in at an all-time low. The only language that jackass speaks is $$$$, so I hope the big money boosters speak loud and clear.... with their wallets
That's a sure fire way to help the LV program. You tell them , genius. Some of you are beyond stupid. Sabotaging our current coach will really help getting the next one. Any more bright ideas?

Painful truth, DW knows his future does not rest on the success or failure of the Lady Vols. And it sucks that he feels that way, because those of us who grew up watching Pat and who know the history, it's painful to watch the crash and burn this program has become. Should CKC have been let go? Probably. It's a better option than losing your entire roster. Not sure how she sells good players in the portal on coming here when she lost her entire roster. Almost feels like a death sentence.

While it is true that his future doesn't rest on the Lady Vols success or failure, letting Pat's program get nuked into oblivion is the kind of thing that can - and will - get used against him if one of the big money maker sports starts to fail. And while the AD may not care about the Lady Vols, there are plenty around the university who do (some of them are even in the men's programs and are donors/boosters)

Not trying to be mean but i can’t help but look into it we literally have fans saying it’s all on the players and the team quit lol like I GET blame goes to the players as well HOWEVER TO ABSOLVE the coach completely is outrageous to me 😂 not saying that’s what you are or are not doing haha
im not saying its all on the players but you still have to play with heart and act like you want to be on the court. but i get it. the coach needs to be shown the door. sadly she gets another year to knock down the walls of the doors she already tore down.
