Connor O'Gara on Finebaum says

What if they know our sanctions will be really bad? I mean devastating.

Steele cost us very little money. The remaining staff under contract is still here.

We pick up a few decent coaches to fill vacancies.

We struggle to the end of the sanctions then hire a good coach.

The program is attractive despite the record. Still have a decent set of players. Good qb and line.

The portal can fill some holes.

The brand is powerful and the money is right.

I can only think if it’s Steele then the sanctions are really bad.

If the answer is Steele then what this means is the real coaching search will be all 2021 long and will be announced next year. Danny White is now seeing how hard it it to hire for this dumpster fire of a program. Nobody want's it.

This board can twist any and everything. If you all fall for what Finebaum or some guest is saying or conjecturing my happen by all means have at it. They don't have any idea, they are just seeing who will believe their crap. I will wait on the AD, good day! JMHO. GBO!
Posters on this board like to tell a few fibs now and then. Mostly all the time.

If this is the way it goes, kind of expected it to end this way. Just shows you how big of a mess UT is really in too.
If this is the way it goes, let’s support the outcome.
Let Steele stabilize this shee-ot show and make it more attractive for the next coach.
Not like we will be going to any bowls or championships any time soon anyway thanks to the sanctions that the NCAA will hand out on us.

If true, Jeremy Pruitt will go down as the most hated man in the state of Tennessee. His incompetence as a coach and leader is one thing, but his lack of character that allowed rampant misconduct was like a stake through the heart. He better be the last Alabama product to EVER be allowed to have any significant role in our athletic program.

You cannot recruit at an SEC level with an interim coach. It will only dig the hole deeper for the next coach who comes along to get out of.
Will Plan D recruit at a “SEC level” in the next 10 months?

It’s not about recruiting right now imo.
The deterioration to the program from going with a Plan C/D and a temp in the next 10 months is likely less than going from a home run next December rather than a Plan C or Plan D now.

I’ll exchange a top-25 class for a top-35 one if it gets a top target next December

Boy, it's nice to have big dreams...

If true (big IF anytime you are quoting someone on Finebaum I know), it could just be a confirmation from AD White that UT will take all the Time needed for a thorough search and that Steele will remain interim for the duration of the search, even if it goes into Spring ball or later.

It's a damn shame we are hell bent on filling in empty data points with negativity and nihilism.

For every variable we know the AD has to take into account, there are 20 more that we don't. Each of the candidates has another set of variables to consider. We don't know what we don't know.

It's fun and healthy to speculate but the bent towards negativity isn't - especially if it is so constant it begins to bleed from here into life off the board.

If Steele is the interim coach, we'll survive while the search continues. If it's someone else, well, it's always up to the individual to decide if they'll meet things with cautious optimism or pernicious negativity.

It's always, always, always about the recruiting. We won't get near a top 35 with an interim coach.

Sounds like a smart thing to do. What decent coach would want to make the leap to us not knowing what the NCAA is going to do? In addition, if good coaches didn't want to sign on know, why hire a so so coach and be faced with this same problem in 3 years. While I would love to get a high quality coach ASAP, I think it is unwise to hire an up and coming coach who can not coach at this level and have to go through this same process again. Surely, our fans and Administration can see the wisdom in this process.
LANE KIFFIN leaving us for USC.
