I'm sticking with Crean
He's likely to be fired too. He's in a very similar situation to Rick Barnes. I'd be willing to bet that IU and Texas would be willing to let either walk away if they wanted to.
Gross.
Dude is good at making the tournament only to get knocked out early on. At Indiana, he was actually opposite. Barely got in the tournament(3 for 7) but got to the Sweet 16(2 out of 3). None the less, dude is at Indiana and can't make the tournament. One of the more prestigious basketball schools. Hiring him would be like hiring Pelini from Nebraska. Both programs are better than their coaches and both coaches still underachieve.
Fred Hoiberg?
Greg McDermott?
Fran McCaffery?
Don't talk about coach Tibs like that man. What's with the Iowa suggestions?
Anyways, I live not far from Fran and he sucks.
Hoiberg is amazing but the Bulls might go as far as firing Thibedou to hire Hoiberg. In which case, we have literally no shot at Hoiberg.
I think we're too good for McDermott.
In the end, I'd take Hoiberg without hesitation. McDermott isn't the worst hire in the world. Fran would be a horrible hire and I'd puke in my mouth.
Rick Barnes would be a homerun, IMO. He's on a short leash at Texas right now and would probably be fine with moving on. He's the classic example of staying in one place too long. He's a hell of a coach and a good recruiter too. His Texas teams always fare well in the tourney.
outside the box choices:
1)
Rick Byrd with an understanding that it is for 3-5 years to allow time to heal wombs. Reports of the big donors not wanting Bruce are completely false. After 3-5 years the timing will be correct for a homecoming
2)
Anthony Grant
The man can coach and Bama was the problem. Watch nc state for my rebuttal to the laughter tonight.
Why in the world would we want a coach that had one year left on his contract?
Glad I made your day. Hope it carries you through life how well you did on a forum on the Internet. Congrats :good!:
Obviously, you don't remember the state of that program he volunteered to take over after Sampson ran it into the ground. His first 3 years, he had 66 losses with a sanctioned roster. So his real total is the tourney in 3/4 years. History. Look it up before posting.
I didn't say that at all. I changed it because I thought the guy above said that. We don't need a guy who just signed an extension because the buyout the first two years is usually very high and someone at the end of a contract either. So maybe in the middle like neither end of the spectrum? Or maybe someone without a job if that makes you happy.
Dude, unwad your panties. The thing to do is show your VN brethren some respect and post the link and the list. However, I can tell from your post that only other "insiders" were considered.
Texas AD said last night he is "inclined to keep Barnes if he makes changes."
Crean is likely to get another year. Him taking that dumpster fire and having to endure those 66 losses in the first three years bought him a lot of time in the eyes of boosters and administration. He is likely on the hot seat next year.
