Dude is good at making the tournament only to get knocked out early on. At Indiana, he was actually opposite. Barely got in the tournament(3 for 7) but got to the Sweet 16(2 out of 3). None the less, dude is at Indiana and can't make the tournament there consistently. Indiana is one of the more prestigious basketball schools. Hiring him would be like hiring Pelini from Nebraska. Both programs are better than their coaches and both coaches still underachieve.

Texas AD said last night he is "inclined to keep Barnes if he makes changes."

Crean is likely to get another year. Him taking that dumpster fire and having to endure those 66 losses in the first three years bought him a lot of time in the eyes of boosters and administration. He is likely on the hot seat next year.

Obviously, you don't remember the state of that program he volunteered to take over after Sampson ran it into the ground. His first 3 years, he had 66 losses with a sanctioned roster. So his real total is the tourney in 3/4 years. History. Look it up before posting.

Anyways, I live not far from Fran and he sucks.

Hoiberg is amazing but the Bulls might go as far as firing Thibedou to hire Hoiberg. In which case, we have literally no shot at Hoiberg.

I think we're too good for McDermott.



In the end, I'd take Hoiberg without hesitation. McDermott isn't the worst hire in the world. Fran would be a horrible hire and I'd puke in my mouth.

Well, at least our football program is on its way up with all this crap going down. I don't know why we can never be good at both at the same time.

I would be content with Rick Byrd. I know it wouldn't be a sexy hire but he wins and could easily be here 10 years. We need stability and someone who would steer clear of the NCAA. Plus he would win plenty of games.

I didn't say that at all. I changed it because I thought the guy above said that. We don't need a guy who just signed an extension because the buyout the first two years is usually very high and someone at the end of a contract either. So maybe in the middle like neither end of the spectrum? Or maybe someone without a job if that makes you happy.

I already know his history and I don't want him given that his program is currently mediocre the past 2 seasons and he's the one that built it. If you enjoy your coaches finishing 8th and 7th in their own conference after half a decade with with the program, okay... congrats? Doesn't mean I have to want it and I find Indiana to be gross the past 2 years. I mean, Cuonzo was better than him his last season here than Indiana has been the past 2 seasons. Yuck.

Well I'm no insider either so maybe if you ask you shall receive instead of becoming upset that you can't access it. I didn't add that part in because I thought someone would have the common sense to copy and paste but I guess not. Maybe no one is an insider but guess what this is a forum so... I'll leave it at that.

I agree that Crean's seat is far less as hot as Barnes'. Texas hasn't appeared too happy with Barnes for the last few years. I think if the right situation appeared, then Texas and Barnes would find a way to separate amicably. More so that Crean.

I had forgotten that Crean had eaten so many losses early on in his stint at IU. He's been shown that he can recruit and turn a program around, that's for sure. I think you are right that he's probably one more year away from IU having to make a decision.
