Clay Travis

Said Franklin is a better coach & vandy has a better staff than Dooley & Tenn.

Caller called in & ripped Will for just sitting there & not disagreeing with Travis.

Thoughts?

I think Clay like to stir the pot more than anything, unless that one thing is fallacio with Franklin.

If people dislike him so much why continue to make threads about it, can we just get a Clay Travis ***** thread made?

Clay speaks his mind, and it gets ratings good or bad.

Dooley lost Bray this year. Take Rodgers off Vandy and they DONT WIN A GAME with Larry Smith

yet Franklin couldn't beat a terrible UT team with his bowl-bound commodedoors. Weird huh?

Dooley was as lucky as crap to win that game and you know it,Franklin is getting a heck of alot more out of his team than Dooley is his.Just the marked improvement in one year from 2-10 to 6-6 and a bowl game for Vandy is remarkable and a testament to the great job done by Franklin. This guy can recruit, motivate and coach much better than Dooley imo.yes we have the worst coach in the Sec not going anywhere with Dooley expect further down the hole.

as has been said many times before, switch schedules with UT and Vandy is home for the holidays while UT is bowling. Who did they beat that was worth a crap? You seem to get thrown off by the tough talk

Franklin will have his due, his schedule wont be as soft as it was this year...and when Vandy just becomes Vandy...Im sure the supporters will start looking at all that Money they are spending for sports....and say why...we are just Vandy...we dont compete in BB and FB..we just wait for our cut from all other SEC Teams for bowls games..

Hmm...so thats what Smokey 79 said...I have him blocked..

Interviewed Franklin the other day (as he does 10 times a month). Franklin said half-serious he expected to bump into other SEC coaches in the halls of the high schools. At which point Travis said "Have you bumped into UT and if so have you asked them about the locker room video?".

It is funny how Hyams calls the Nashville station and acts as the out of town expert for CLay's station. And then Clay turns around and calls the Knoxville station to act as the out of town expert for them. As the old saying goes, you're only "an expert" if you live over 100 miles away.

That right there is some good work if you can get it....lol

Yeah, that was yesterday afternoon. I heard that one. He ducked that question. I liked how Blaine Bishop asked Franklin about how he now felt about playing anyone / anywhere. Ron couldn't recall ever saying that. And he probably hadn't said that...I think Blaine just messed that up bad. I miss ole George & Willie

The only problem with the driving distance argument is that we're getting out recruited by someone in just about every point of the compass within that radius. To recruit the kinds of players that it's going to take to put us back on top of the SEC we're going to have to open up the checkbook and hire a big name coach who can bring in a top flight recruiting staff. The question is how do you make a top 5 tier coach want to come to a #16, or worse, program. The answer is money, lots and lots of money. It's up to the AD to decide if they're really all-in for football or if UTK is just going to be another hanger on sucking at the hind tit of the SEC.

this nails it down so tight no further comment necessary

My list using his 25 teams... given the list is "best jobs", I don't see how you have PSU in the top 100.

1 TEX
2 BAMA
3 UF
4 LSU
5 OSU
6 USC
7 ND
8 MICH
9 OKLA
10 FSU
11 UGA
12 MIAMI
13 TENN
14 AUBURN
15 OREGON
16 NEBRASKA
17 PSU
18 WISCONSIN
19 TAMU
20 UCLA
21 SCAR
22 OKST
23 VTECH
24 UNC
25 ARIZ

Outside of a criminal investigation in which the school will not be punished with bowl bans, scholly losses, or suspensions by the NCAA, why is it a bad gig? Besides following a top 5 all time coach, its a committed fan base, deep tradition, and good for recruiting. Every PSU fan wants to move on and being the next coach would have the full support to do so. JMHO

And Vandy is going bowling and we are not so another epic fail by Dooley.

Vandy plays the same Cincy team UT destroyed when at full strength; so if Vandy couldn't beat UT and then can't beat the same Cincy team UT did, then I'd love to know how Vandy is so much better than UT?

There is one reason and one reason only that Vandy is bowling, a crappy schedule.

And it's been said a million times but I'll say it again; Travis made it clear last year that he is anti-Dooley. He put that stake in the ground and there is no way he's ever going to stop beating that drum. It seems mostly to be because Dooley hurt his feelings (the marble mouth comment from Dooley at the 2010 SEC Media Days), and now he's made it his personal cause to see Dooley fired. He's also still butthurt over Fulmer getting fired.

I agree with you that we are being out recruited, but not because we are at best a # 16 program, the other schools just have better recruiters and better coaches. UT is a top 10 program and can bring in tremendous amounts of talent becuase players want to play here, otherwise we wouldn't have the history we do. I believe a great recruiter like Saban, Carroll, Meyer or Kiffin can consistent bring in top 5 classes at UT and easily bring in top 10 classes. To get a top five tier coach any school in the country would have to open up the pocket books, so UT just has to get serious about winning and paying for a coach that can win. So basically I agree with you UT has to pay big money to get a big time coach if UT wants to win consistently.
