Every player has a game in which he just can't get it done. In that situation the coaches need to find ways for other guys to pick up the slack. It seemed quite obvious that there were guys ready to shoulder the burden and Clawson simply didn't call on them. Crompton lost this game because Clawson stupidly asked him to win over and over.
That's my point: that Clawson's schemes gave us open receivers, which the QB failed to hit.
That's not stupidity, that's WHAT IS EXPECTED. If you don't want the burden of a game on you if you lose then don't play D1 QB for a Top 25 school in the SEC. Crompton lost this game because he didn't take advantage of OPEN receivers and by throwing the ball in the dirt. Clawson gave Cromp the keys and he totaled the car.
With a mickey mouse game plan like that, Clawson belongs at UCF in Orlando, not UT.
i dont know why we were throwing on first and second down. it blows my mind. it absolutely astonishes me. i still cant believe i saw what i saw tonight. i'm disgusted and far from impressed. i'm extremely disappointed and feel fooled and insulted
If we do this they stack the line and we become ineffective at running as well. That's called adjustment which isn't in Chavis' dictionary.
We could have run the ball a lot more. Just mix in a few passes here and there to keep them honest.
I'm really surprised we threw it as much as we did.
Play action is overrated and with the pressure they were getting on Cromp we would have sustained more damage in sacks and yards lost than incomplete passes.

congratulations eric, you've now gone full circle. I could make the same post i did earlier, but you'd just resort back to your lame "execution" excuse and start the whole process over again.
absolute lunacy. Once you get the running game going, the blitz backs off. You then throw in play action and it's EXTREMELY effective. Anyone that knows anything about football knows how effective play action is.
