we simply do not have enough SEC talent on the team. I know it's just the first game but I do not understand anyone thinking Crompton can compete at this level. I hope I am wrong but I don't see any possible way to have a winning season let alone compete in the SEC.:dunno::dunno::dunno::dunno:

I missed the fact that UCLA returned all 11 starters this year. I know the stats from last year but they don't matter 1 bit when discussing this year. Their run D was abysmal and pass D was mediocre at best w/ blown coverages regularly. It was just our OC abandoned the run and our QB couldn't physically take advantage or just couldn't make the reads.

Whether or not they returned everyone or not is not the point, the point is they have a good core defense. They were all over our receivers. Where was Lucas Taylor?? Probably still covered by a UCLA CB.

outside of Foster's fumble (go figure) the running game looked good. Over 5 yards per carry. yet we decide to throw the ball 42 times

The play calling wasnt terrible, but everytime we had a nice second down with medium yardage we would throw and put us at 3rd and 4 or 5. we need to establish and continue to show our ability to run the ball. i thought the backs looked good and we got away from it too quick. im really dissapointed cuz this was a win and we let it slide.

Clawson was extremely disappointing in my opinion. We threw the ball what, 40 times? Crompton completed like 15. That math doesn't work. Run the damn ball, especially when it is working and you have 2 really solid backs and the freaking lead

Clawson didn't throw it and also Cromp didn't scramble at all tonight. He stayed in the pocket and didn't look very confident at all.

your wrong on so many accounts....we have the talent the O coordinator was the problem....all this talk about spreading the D out and getting the ball into the playmakers was not happening

No you are clueless. Our second team is more talented than UCLA. The coaching blew this game. We were not prepared and were out schemed all game.

Gerald Jones got about 50 yards every time he touched the ball. We needed to run more and find him more.

I would say we are as talented as all other SEC teams minus QB and WR.

I think JC will be fine but outside Jones, we don't have the breakaway receivers like we used to. I didn't see too much separation from any receiver tonight outside of Jones. When Austin Rogers is playing for you, you know your talent has dwindled. Great kid but not an sec caliber WR. Honestly, Lucas doesn't do alot for me either when you compare him to the Peerless Price, Meachem, Swain, Stallworth types.

They don't have a good core defense though. 2 good DTs is about it. The corners were average to slightly above average but Rahim Moore had more blown coverages than I could count. They can't stop the run at all and any decent passing attack would have filled up the stat books against them.

How many threads are we going to have saying "Don't blame..."? It's everyone's fault, and we have the talent.

Wasn't Crompton one of the top 5 quarterbacks in the nation coming out of high school?

The D looked okay, better than last year anyway. The offense returns practically everyone except Ainge, plus Warren is added. Either Crompton is way way worse than Ainge or Clawson and the other coaches screwed up. I'm going with the latter.

im blaming him the oline and the qb they all sucked up the field.

Not going to throw d under yet they where out there toooooo dang long.

our oline sucks and sucks bad. they can press almost 700lb but cant move a 300lb player a foot. Crompton had no showings of being a good qb eyed the receiver, bad mechanics, and didnt hold up through out the game.

We are going to be ate alive.

We have talent, we just don't have the top ten talent we are used to having here.

The type of talent that covers up for coaching inadequecies.

Cromp sure didn't show us that tonight. He had the opportunity and he didn't come through. Sure could of fooled me though if they didn't have a good core D, because unlike us they adjusted for the most part and shut us down Passing the ball and got pressure on Cromp.

I was really excited that we hired Clawson. He has the kind of offensive mind that is needed to suceed in todays SEC. He was going to be the one that breaks the 'conservative offense' tag that has hobbled Tennessee since the late 90's.

However, when his offense is not executed correctly, it will look foolish and amatuer. Actually, there's not much difference between him and what Spurrier does. And when the Fun 'n' Gun, or the Cock 'n' Fire don't execute, it looks much the same way.

Only difference is that Spurrier would have yanked Crompton about half way through the 2nd quarter. Which means we must have nothing backing up Crompton.

That is nothing but a jacka$$ comment. This game was nothing but a coaching loss. Yes, Crompton made some mistakes, but that is to be expected. The team this year should be better than last year with the amount of talent that has returned. This loss rides directly on the coaches' shoulders. We should not have thrown the ball that much and we should have put alot more pressure on Craft in the 2nd half. Instead of pounding the ball, we decided to test out JC's pocket awareness. That is great if you are playing a UT-Chattanooga or MTSU....NOT UCLA IN THE ROSE BOWL.
