Clawson

I thought that the playcalling was decent but Crompton looked awful. Its hard to blame the playcalling when the QB throws the ball at thr receivers feet or over their head. That said Clawson is the QB coach and Crompton was not ready to play.

ok I have reanylized Cromptons performance. It took him almost 3 and a halg qrters to settle down, WHY????

And yes both he and Clawson looked like a deer in the headlights...............:furious3::furious3:

They're paying this guy big money for that mediocre offensive game plan? Are you serious??

You could have the BEST OC in the land and the way Cromp played tonight it wouldn't have mattered. Stop blaming the OC. This one is on Cromp in the end.

Clawson talks the talk but he isn't ready for Div I BCS level football. He's got a lot to learn about BCS level defenses (Something that UCLA doesn't have but he will be facing very soon).

UCLA 29th in Total defense in 2007.

UT 70th in Total defense in 2007.

Not a very Guruesque post.

It's silly how people don't realize that coaches have a huge influence on what players do on the field. Crompton couldn't hit ANYBODY - do you think this all of a sudden just happened?

WE DIDN'T BLITZ HIM IN THE SPRING GAME! ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME

Our O-line also looked bad. Crompton got pressured all night. Not sure why we didn't roll out or sprint out at all. That straight drop every time really let the UCLA D tee off.

True but the OC decides if we run or pass and I thought the game plan was to take pressure off our young QB. Not pass 80% of the time.

the offense in general just didn't play well but clawson was definitely part of the equation. some of the playcalling tonight was absolutely horrible. ut was never even close to finding a rythtym on offense.

Bull, if we ran the ball every play we win. The OC has to realize that the QB is off.

One of the problems Cromp has right now is his inexperience facing 1st Team defenses. I think playing against the 2nd team more than the first in Spring and Fall camps is part of the issue.

no wonder they kept this offense under lock and key!!!! they would have to call the cdc to knoxville. fro qurantine. and johnthan look like he had know idea what the crap was going on. this is really sad. and fulmer is got that dam smirk on his face the whole time. he should have been in their asses. maybe g.jones and hardesty can beat uab cause with that type of playing n.ill. is at least going to have a win this year.....:ill_h4h::realmad::realmad::realmad::realmad:

Also though, part of Cromp's issues was our O-Line pass blocking. Are we gonna blame Adkins for that as well??

I missed the fact that UCLA returned all 11 starters this year. I know the stats from last year but they don't matter 1 bit when discussing this year. Their run D was abysmal and pass D was mediocre at best w/ blown coverages regularly. It was just our OC abandoned the run and our QB couldn't physically take advantage or just couldn't make the reads.

we simply do not have enough SEC talent on the team. I know it's just the first game but I do not understand anyone thinking Crompton can compete at this level. I hope I am wrong but I don't see any possible way to have a winning season let alone compete in the SEC.:dunno::dunno::dunno::dunno:

Well to be fair we played as a team and we lost as a team. Play calling was just weird. Crompton was off target all night. Foster fumbled. The line seemingly wasn't pass blocking well though I thought they run blocked excellently.

Chavis still can't scheme defensively with a lead and 3rd and long was a problem yet again. Secondary dissapeared in the 2nd half.

So I guess you can't really place it all on Clawson, without some of that we probably still would have won—despite the crappy play calling.

this wasn't even an SEC game.

I'm not blaming Clawson, but to say we don't have the talent is ludicrous in my opinion.
