Clawson

He knows more about offensive football than I could ever hope to, but was it just me or did we run a crazy amount of bunch sets and tight formations?

Formations were fine, just Cromp couldn't keep the ball in the numbers for a good portion of the night.

its not all clawson

Crompton had like 10 throws that were 5 yards short or long..
his accuracy blows

Clawson failed miserably in his first test

I don't see how you blame Clawson. Honestly, Chavis' conservative play calling in the 2nd half and Cromp's below average performance are FAR more to blame than Clawson. I know though it wouldn't take long for some people on here to try and blame a man who coached his first D-1 game as an OC for the reason we lost.

Here's an idea. Why don't we just hire the guy who won the Madden Bus tour? He calls his own plays.

Its easy to blame him. The offense only scored 17 points and the QB, the position he coaches, wasn't good to say the least.

I thought that the playcalling was decent but Crompton looked awful. Its hard to blame the playcalling when the QB throws the ball at thr receivers feet or over their head. That said Clawson is the QB coach and Crompton was not ready to play.

Didnt run it enough. Crompton was way off, he wasnt barely missing. Looked like he was scared too death all night. Hardesty should start and leave Fumster on the bench!!

It is easy to blame him and it's also easy to blame Fulmer when he wasn't the one or two hopping receivers on his throws some of the night.

put ainge in tonight, and we woulda won by at least two touchdowns

he woulda thrown for over 300 yards no doubt
UCLA defense was slow, injured

Foster didn't let the UCLA below average offense drive down the field like we had no defense the second half either. The only thing positive I can see right now from this game is our run defense.

If you want to point the finger at playcalling then look at the defense. That stupid prevent with a 3 point lead kills me.

Crompton was terrible. How many open receivers did he either overthrow or throw it into the ground at thier feet. Where was this awesome O-line that allowed only 4 sacks last year? UCLA was getting pressure on Crompton with 3 DL's at times vs. our 'superior' OL.

They're paying this guy big money for that mediocre offensive game plan? Are you serious??

I mean, hate to say it but cutcliffe's O was better than this.

I very much blame clawson at this point b/c our d gave us enough chances to put this one away early, and each time we couldnt score.....heck we weren't able to get any closer than their 45 most of the time. Clawson's very down on the list now...and he's gonna have to do alot of work in order to move back into the fan's graces.

Also....you think maybe it's a bad idea to swap the line around since it gives a pretty good hint where we're going to go/run before hand by the strong side?

I think most of the blame should fall on the player's inability to execute the plays, not the coach who called them.
I do think he should have ran the ball MUCH more though.
