CJH replacement

I’m too old to embarrass myself, think what you want… but since YOU ASKED. What I meant, DUDE, is a stronger conference (than it was).

And judging by your question…

…you seem confused.

Kiffin is in our same conference.
When was the last time UT went 45-19 or better over a 5 year period?

You don't want to answer after being asked 3 different times. I'll give you the answer - it was with Fulmer, which proves my original point to you.

Have a great day!

I dont think he ever wins a championship and I also don’t think he’s the next level guy. I also recognize it’s not the best time to coach shop, so Im saying I don't want to fire him. I just want to post the same crap in every thread.

Hey, found my sippy cup...

You see Heupel's numbers against Top 25 teams? I posted them. You never replied.

Hmmm...

If Heupel isn't coaching here in 2026, it will be because he chose to leave. He's not getting fired for going 8-5 (if we lose the bowl game).
Not sure where you're going with that. No one is questioning if he would be fired this year. He's still not on the warm seat much less hot seat. The issue is 1. Will he get poached this season or even next season? And #2 if he doesn't, and lasts a couple more years and continually underperforms, who could be an improvement (based on the historical record of hot commodity coaches flopping when promoted to a top tier program)?

If we chase Heupel off, I may be looking for a new team. Heupel has a top 10 winning % of active coaches and made Tennessee relevant again. Not our name and spare me the UT sells itself. We spent more than a decade in the woods the guy that pulled us out people want gone after 8 possibly/9 wins

No P4 program is poaching a coach who just got skull-drug at home by Vandy. If Heupel leaves, it's because he wants to. And I don't think he does. I think he, like many of us, is very disappointed with the '25 season. He wants to fix it, and win big here. Despite what some say, UT is in fact a "destination job".

The only question is whether he is willing to do what needs to be done. I expect that he and DW will have a deep conversation about that very subject. DW is a very strong personality at AD. He likes Josh. He hired Josh. He wants him to stay at UT. If Josh wins, Danny's stock rises. But he knows that UT Football is the cash cow, and in order for the money to continue to flow, there has to be improvement in the football program.

Love to be a fly on the wall of the AD's office over the next few weeks.

No one chasing him off. If he leaves he is resetting his own clock. That is on him. Quit blaming the fans everytime good grief.

Then let's fire CJH, and do it all over again in 3 years, then 3 years after that.

Tennessee is 45-19 (11th nationally) since CJH took over. When was the last time UT has had a better record over a 5 year period?
The 45-19 means nothing. We are 9th place in the sec in year 5, just got embarrassed by a traditional bottom feeder in the conference. We aren’t even the best team in the great state of Tennessee. This is NOT because we lost 2 of our best defenders We haven’t been prepared to play winning football all year, except absolute inferior opponents. It’s all about timing. Some would say we held onto the man who finished 152-52 here for too long, but somehow 45-19 is worthy of guaranteed employment. That which must be done inevitably, must be done immediately

IMO, CJH has earned the chance to fix this. Any talk of firing him now is foolish and very likely will do more damage than good to the program.

The consensus is he has to take necessary steps to fix the defense. If he's unable to do that here, he'll be gone and his chances of doing that at another premier school will drop.

In a sense, it's a make or break moment for him and his career. I personally am pulling for him to get this done. Not just for Tennessee, but for Josh also. He seems like a genuinely decent person and I would love to see him be highly successful.... Especially for my favorite team.

It’s worthy of leeway for a few years. You don’t fire the man who pulled you outta the gutter the 1st sign of there being some dirt on his shoulder. You double down your resources, ask what can be done to make it better, and try to fix the situation to keep improving. We not had a losing season, our recruiting has steadily gotten better, and we’re moving in an upward direction as a program.

His winning percentage is better than our all time winning percentage. So if Heupel was our coach throughout ALL of Tennessee history we would have a better win percentage than we do now. Just a stark reminder.

I don't want to see CJH leave. I like him as our HC. This feels similar to when Fulmer kept Randy Sanders as OC for too long. By the time he finally made the change, it was too late. I really hope CJH makes the necessary changes to get this fixed and firing on all cylinders next season.

Once again, literally the first line in this thread is talking about people wanting him fired.

What do you consider enough leeway. This is year 5, and admit it or not, we are a horrible football team. If we wait until year 7-8 and we’re still here, it’s too late. We will be forced to start over again. For once I want the university of my state to get out in front and be pro active
