Prisoners of the moment. Its almost like yall get amnesia every week not realizing teams don't look great every game. They just played two incredible games in a row. Usually that sets up for a stinker. Also Miami has been battle tested in close competitive games. You need that in a title game that's likely to be close.

Battle tested? They made mistake after mistake after mistake and the only reason they won is Ole Miss never made them pay for them. That Miami team shows up it will be over at halftime.

His username is ironic considering UT’s coach during Dobbs’ best years was the main reason Dobbs didn’t even sniff a Heisman

Oh this guy is a legend of terrible takes. He predicted the 2016 and 2017 teams would win the National Championshp and that Josh Dobbs was the best QB of the 2017 Draft class and would be a Hall of Famer who won many Super Bowls.

So does Faizon Brandon start for UT this fall ?

How can you make this statement about Miami being in the same hemisphere based on what we have seen between the two teams so far? He willl win the natty this season for sure. After that I do see a possibility of a drop off though. His players are nearly old enough to draw full social security benefits.

There's something called regression to the mean. Teams don't usually put together long strings of dominant play. Plus both Miami and Indiana played a common opponent recently in Ohio State and Miami won by a larger margin.

I got Miami winning the natty and ending Indiana's two year Cinderella run.

Based on what? Your hunch?

The fact nobody has won a national title without a top 10 recruiting class since recruiting rankings became a thing.

At some point Cinderella's slipper falls off and the carriage turns back into a pumpkin. Indiana isn't gonna be making perennial runs to the playoffs with a team full of 2 and 3-star players.

Cignetti is a great coach, and Indiana will be good as long as he is there.
The old curmudgeon is Saban 2.0, and we better all get used to it.

He is, however, 64 years old, so I rather doubt that he has a 10-year run in him. One can make an argument that, at least in the short term, Cignetti's accomplishment is more impressive, in term of both the speed with which he has built the program and IU's historical status as one of the armpits of college football. Alabama is a blue-blood program that has won national championships with multiple coaches.

I am almost inclined to say that he is a modern-day Neyland. His team executes with military precision, they play with great discipline and intensity. And they play ferocious defense. I also expect them to handily defeat Miami and become the first 16-0 team in college football since Yale in 1894.

I like Heupel and all but we need to make Cignetti the most obscene coaching contract offer known to man.

5 years, 200 mil;
His own Memphis Riverboat;
A mountain top mansion in the Smokeys;
Induction into the Grand Ole Opry;
A monthly orgy with the Titan's cheerleaders;
Motorboating with Dolly Parton and
Prima Nocta throughout the State.
Deal might fall through if we only offer monthly

Like the way their tailbacks hit the hole violently …. Just like running straight down hill

Indiana is fundamentally sound in every phase of the game. And they never let up. This is what we need to strive for. There isn’t nothing flashy about it they just all do their job well and are physically and mentally tough. GBO
I like the fact the Indiana players are not a bunch of prima donna 5 stars. Hope they win the championship.

Anybody recall how many 5 stars Yale had?

Indiana’s mean is higher than Miami’s peak. If Miami keeps it close that means Miami had their best day.

Tennessee would never have hired Cignetti out of JMU. The Vols prefer pedigreed "name" coaches or assistants. Indiana was desperate enough to try anything.

The other thing one needs to realize is that Indiana's core team came from JMU.
His team only has 8 five star recruits. It is mostly 3 star and 4 star players.

He played a team last night which handed him the game on th4 first play of the game. Oregon played right into his handstand make enough turnovers early in the game to lose to half the teams in Division I. I do think they have the best QB I have seen in a long time. He was on spot on just about every ball he threw. Indiana's kept Oregon's bottle up except for the second possession where they tied the game in the first quarter. Indiana is the best team I have seen this year, They have been able to build their team in every phase of the game. They will be competitive as long as they a recruit talent from high school, but , more importantly, from the portal. I believe those teams who able to fill their weak spots from the portal will be the teams who will be the most successful.

Do you seriously believe that 4- and 5-stars won't be flocking to that place if they win the natty, especially given the fact that they have a sugar daddy in Cuban financing the NIL?

Hell, the season isn't over yet and he already has the top transfer QB signed and ready to step in for Mendoza next year.

This Indiana team has 2019 LSU vibes, except they have the real deal as a coach instead of a clown, so it's unlikely they collapse like LSU did after Burrow & Co. left. It's highly unlikely that IU ever has a season like this one again, but as long as this guy hangs around they aren't going anywhere.

Real world we have the anti Cignetti. I like Heup as our coach, but we consistently have a young roster. More stars than we have had lately, but always a young and inexperienced roster. Meanwhile, Cignetti has a team of 23 year olds dominating people. Incredible what he has done.
And the issue with this is due to the transfer portal, not enough of that young talent sticks around long enough to become experienced talent in the program. It has become a vicious cycle that Huepel is going to have to find a way to break!

If you ask me, the future of recruiting is going to be much smaller signing classes and larger transfer portal numbers. I'm talking a ratio of something like 30% high school signers and 70% portal guys.
