Prisoners of the moment. Its almost like yall get amnesia every week not realizing teams don't look great every game. They just played two incredible games in a row. Usually that sets up for a stinker. Also Miami has been battle tested in close competitive games. You need that in a title game that's likely to be close.
They played great virtually every single game this year. IU is a machine. Their 3rd stringers would beat us to a pulp.

He's likely to lose the championship game to Miami and never make it back. Stop being prisoner of the moment. He's a good coach but this could be just a fluke run and not an indicator of a generational coach.
I don't know about Cig being "likely" to lose the NC, if I was a betting man I'd lay odds on them.

I do remember thinking about the dynasty Bob Stopps was going to build after winning the NC his second year at Oklahoma. He spent the next 16 years unsuccessfully chasing the second one.

Do you seriously believe that 4- and 5-stars won't be flocking to that place if they win the natty, especially given the fact that they have a sugar daddy in Cuban financing the NIL?

Well that's a different story. Anybody can become good by stacking talent and spending money (see Texas Tech). I was simply saying the Cinderella run of being a team filled with 2 and 3-star players ain't gonna get it done again. If he parlays this success into winning the conventional way by recruiting better talent then so be it. Anybody can be good in college football nowadays if they spend their way to success.

Coach Cignetti seems to be turning most player rating notions on its head.

Good article on ESPN. He has a unique method of evaluating players. Not by stars but more on intangibles.

The handshake “take” is especially interesting. you can tell a lot about a man by the initial greeting and hand shake…eye contact and firmness.

It’s worked the last 2 years. Time will tell if it’s sustainable.

Indiana is fundamentally sound in every phase of the game. And they never let up. This is what we need to strive for. There isn’t nothing flashy about it they just all do their job well and are physically and mentally tough. GBO
Did you see the post game? One of their impact players said that is their motto. DYJ

Do Your Job

He went on to say they have it posted "everywhere" and the article spoke on how "Indiana doesn't beat themselves"'which I'd argue them and GA (players only; smarts worst coached game in a long time) are the only teams of the 12 of which this could be said.

Anyway, your reply made me think of that interview.

The kid said they bring it with them on the road too. DYJ. He said if we're all doing our jobs, we win.

The fact nobody has won a national title without a top 10 recruiting class since recruiting rankings became a thing.

At some point Cinderella's slipper falls off and the carriage turns back into a pumpkin. Indiana isn't gonna be making perennial runs to the playoffs with a team full of 2 and 3-star players.

Exactly this.
Get 11 guys on the field focusing on their job and only their job and you win.

RB for Oregon clearly was not focused on the fumble play when he ran into Moore.

They played nobody all year outside of Oregon and Ohio State until the playoffs. I would hope they body bag mediocre teams if they're as great as people think they are.
This is why I don't put them in the category of "top 5 teams of all time".

The Iowa game was in question until midway through the 4th.
They barely escaped a poorly coached, bad Penn State team.
Both of those games should have 2 score wins.

Last 3 wins were Ohio State, Bama, Oregon. I don't see this as a fluke. It's not luck that is winning those games. Indiana looked like the better team by far against those 3 teams. There is no way he is leaving Indiana anytime soon unless to coach in the NFL.
He won't go to the NFL.
He's said multiple times that he has zero interest in that level.

Makes the same money in college ball and has more control over who he gets to coach.

Indiana is going to demolish Miami. Miami doesnt have the discipline and I still think Mario Cristobal is kind of a buffoon coach who cant manage clock.
Yeah, I think Indiana is too good on both sides of the ball. Miami won't be able to hang IMHO . I do agree that it's too early to anoint Cigarenneti to Saban level just yet, it's just been 2 years of success

Whatever narrative that you want to push, but they haven't just played 2 incredible games. They have been incredible all year. If you don't know this nc game will be over by halftime, you will in a week.
