Chryst dink and dunk qb

8 schools in the PAC12 were 75th or worse in the nation in pass defense and Stanford is not one of them. That means 72% of the defenses Chryst faced in conference were 75th or worse in pass defense in the entire nation. By the way, 3 of those schools were 115th or worse.

Fade, do you think Chryst will win the starting job? :)

To keep the defenses’ DBs honest so they can’t sell out to stop the run thereby making it much more difficult to run the ball maybe??

Yep you can be real good only throwing 15 balls 15/20 yards to keep them honest. It’s not an all day pass fest offense. Stanford is a successful football team doing just that.

Lots of QB's have thrown picks in the end zone or red zone. Manning, Bree's, Brady, Newton etc, etc. Just saying. I'm not advocating for any particular QB. Until we see them in Pruitt's system, we ought not rush to judgment.

It was in his HIGHLIGHTS, dude!

JG just doesn't seem to be able to "feel" the pressure and holds on to the ball way, way too long. If we had an o line like Alabama maybe he could get an other second, but we don't and he gets pounded.

Getting the ball out in 2.8 seconds is the norm, it is such a basic skill set, one of the easiest things to learn, anyone can do it you just count it out and bam, ball is gone or you are off an running, but to just sit back there and tuck up and take a big hit, time and time again is a problem.

Maybe he can be coached up with a decent staff we shall see.

Last yr the SEC had 7 schools ranked 75th or more in scoring D and 3 were over 100. Like I said, the last 3 years average in scoring Defense Stanford is tied for 6th. 6 SEC Defense's in that span gave up more than Stanford and the 6 teams ahead or tied with them. Stats can be misleading, that's why I go with points allowed. Tennessee was top 3 in the country last yr in passing defense, but #88 in scoring D. Anyody who watched the Vols play knows how bad we were and how misleading stats can be.

From a completely objective football perspective calling Chryst a “dink and dunk” QB is 100% ignorant. However, if you are a analyst that covers football then it’s 100% stupid. Coach Shaw runs a West Coast offense which means short passes on rhythm. They will run a lot of boots which can be thrown around 18-22 yards. His job in that offense is to be a dink and dunk guy because that’s how that offense operates ESPECIALLY Standford’s because of how run focused they are. I’m just saying if your going to throw stupid comments around like that, at least attempt to sound like your intelligent.

Why is his career ypa a yard or more lower than the qb that replaced him and the ones before him? Even in a West Coast offense he has been more of a dink and dunk qb than all the other qbs in the same system with the same supporting cast.

It could be a number of things.. ball placement, call, incompletions, coverage... my point isn’t that he is a great QB but that saying a QB in a West coast system is a dink and dunk guy is like saying the water is wet. It makes no sense...

I know you and I have gone back and forth on this and I'm not getting into that again, but will say 1 thing on this. I know you love throwing stats out and as I've argued, stats can be deceptive.. Tell me which QB you would take in a season. QB #1 Hit's 65% of his passes, his YA that you love is 7.8, has 3000 passing yards, 18/10 TD/Int ratio and goes 7-6 in those starts that yr..Or QB #2 who Hit's 57% of his passes, 6.5 YA, has 2300 passing yards, 14/4 Pass/Int ratio and goes 10-3 in his starts. Do you say during those 6 losses that we lost, but who cares his stats were great? I personally prefer wins over stats.

Another comparison..You have the choice between 2 women..Chic #1 is a 10 with a flawless body that you like, but is a Bit$h, cheats, uses you for your money and legs are locked at the knees...or Chic #2 who is a 6 or 7 tops, body not as flawless as #1, but is sweet, would never cheat, loves you and not what you can give her and her Bang game is on point. Do you go with the better stats as far as appearance, or do you choose the one with the better resume top to bottom? I'm going Chic #2.

Like I said I'm not going back and forth on this again like we have before, but being as honest as you can be..What choices would you prefer? Just curious!

I'd say qb one is better but had worse teammates so give me him. With the better teammates that carried the inferior qb he may double the stats he put up.

Ok just for argument's sake, say they had the exact same roster. In a perfect world our QB would get the stats and wins,l Ike we used to get.

IMO, the job is JG’s to lose. Why? More time to learn new scheme and to develop chemistry with offense. Hopefully any “erratic” play will be minimized by coaching like Kiffin did with Crompton.

That is a preposterous scenario. It really makes no sense.

So would you rather have Jalen Hurts in college or Andrew Luck?

One is a better qb while the other has way more wins.

Well I like winning so I'll take the QB that is somehow producing wins even though stat wise he is inferior.

I know people are going to disagree with this but Chryst’s “highlights” didn’t really make me think he’s a good qb and highlights are supposed to make you think someone’s phenomenal even though you need to see the rest of the tape to get an accurate read on how good a player is

Were you impressed with JG's highlights?
