Chryst dink and dunk qb

So why did he feel the need to transfer to a school 3000 miles away if he had an equal shot at winning back the starting job coming back from injury?

Because he didn’t. He flat out went to the wrong school with the wrong offense. If he went to a Big XII team he’d already be in the NFL. He came to Tennessee because of what Helton did with previous QBs in his previous stops at USC and WKU.

London is a backup too. Why do people think these guys that were not more than mediocre on better teams in weaker conferences are coming here to start?

People also got hyped up on Shaq Wiggins last year. I was skeptical given his production at other schools and multiple transfers, but being skeptical of the shiny new object isn't a popular position here.

Basically by definition, a transfer isn't a world beater. They might have a lot of potential, but they leave an old school in the first place because they weren't "killing it" there.

That is a preposterous scenario. It really makes no sense.

So would you rather have Jalen Hurts in college or Andrew Luck?

One is a better qb while the other has way more wins.

How is that? You obviously haven't seen Hurts Stats..62% , 4900 yards, 7.6 YA, 40 TD's 10 Int's.. That was why the words for argument's sake was thrown out there. I was just trying to see how much weight you put in stats vs Wins and if you would budge on your JG obsession. Question has been answered. God help your loved ones and our coaching staff in JG doesn't win the job. I can see a Criminal Minds episode playing out if Chryst is the starter. 😬😬😬😬

Sounds to me like Detillier is throwing our OL under the bus by insinuating that they cannot block well enough to keep our QB healthy. Or am I reading too much into this?

Have you ever watched our football team play the game? No insinuation needed. Major improvement needs to occur this year. If not, then I can Guarantano you that we'll need the training staff calling on Chryst for which ever QB is unfortunate enough to play.

Thank you! I would too!

We all want wins, but too many on here are acting like Tennessee and Stanford have been even close to equal teams recently. You can't possibly give all of the wins to Chryst on a much better team. And then blame all of the losses of the historically worst Tennessee team on the one quarterback, especially when his stats show he was atleast pulling his weight.

I agree 100%. My argument this whole time has been against the obsessed JG Cult. I won't judge him based off what he did under the previous staff, but I also don't get the he's a great QB hype either. Just like I'm not saying Chryst would kill it here or be a bust. Both are under new coaching staffs, new offense's and there's no telling how things end up. I won't say JG sucks or he is the answer right now anymore than I would say Chryst is our Savior or he never plays any meaningful snaps. I'll let it play out and pull for all our players. I have no hidden agenda or biast towards any certain player. I don't care if JG, Chryst, Shrout or McBride is our starter. Neither Race, age or Anything else would give me biast towards one player over another. Only on the field production or lack of it can do that.

Especially when out of his 11 "wins" he was either taken out for ineffectiveness or injury in the first quarter of at least three "wins" and he has never actually beaten a winning team.

I don't recall Guarantano being removed from a game he started due to ineffectiveness and people using that as a "win" on his record to prove something. :hi:

Who would they have put in? Dormady was hurt, McBride was redshirting till JG got hurt. Not exactly a valid argument. Plus was JG recovering from a serious knee injury and no football related activities for 8 months? Nope! Your obsession over this kid is really worrisome..He may need to check for hidden camera's in his dorm and follow the buddy system. I've been on this board for many years and have never seen a grown a$$ man obsess over an 18-21 yr old like this. Really, really creepy dogg!

Your obsession with dragging him down is the creepy thing.

So once again what qb on our roster is getting credit for wins against a bunch of losing teams and teams he barely played against? You are obviously not getting the point.

In fact in all his starts minus Alabama he played very well and would not be replaced by Dormady hurt or not.

I've not dragged JG down, if you have actually read any of my posts on him. Ok dude imma have to cut off conversations with you. I have a feeling the Feds, homeland or somebody has you on some kind of watchlist and I don't need that kind of heat. If JG wins the job and plays well, you can bet I will be the first to congratulate you on it. Until then I'll try to stay off whatever radar you are on. Just a suggestion though..Stay off the dark web looking for anything JG related, will draw more attention than you probably want. Just a friendly Vol fan to Vol fan piece of free advice. Peace!✌️ And Go Vols!

Stanford is a run first team with an awesome running back. Swing passes and screens. Those linemen are dump trucks! Why throw downfield if you play smash mouth.

David Shaw plays big boy tough guy football. They'll air it out if and when the opportunities are there. Just go back and see how they handled Hogan at the QB position (promoted him for Heisman, etc) that is until their freshman phenom McCaffrey at RB broke loose and Hogan took a backseat their offense no longer went through him.

Stanford QB Kevin Hogan Rides Momentum into His Final Season

Also, they never let Andrew Luck air it out did they?

What Detillier meant was Stanford's passing game is dink & dunk, so any QB in that offense was a dink & dunk QB. If he plays for Helton he will be what Helton wants him to be, a vertical QB, same as JG.

No. He even said that was KC's game in high school if you read the article. Plus the qb after and the few qbs before all averaged at least 1 more ypa if not much more. He threw shorter passes as a jr than the freshman who replaced him with the same supporting cast. He is a dink and dunk qb.

He wouldn’t have been recruited if they thought he couldn’t make all the throws.

I still think Keller starts game 1

Sorry d87, but I agree with fade on this one. From most accounts, Guarantano has done nothing but improve throughout the offseason and spring. Cryst couldn't hold the starting position at a run first Stanford, how's he going to fair in the SEC? Maybe he surprises us all and is phenomenal, I just don't see it, though.

I've been saying that all off season.

I think you can say whatever you want about Chryst the facts are that he has won 11 of 13 games as a QB.

The other fact is he hasn't thrown a single ball for the University of Tennessee in any game type situation.

To just consider him a dink and dunk passer is silly, because he hasn't played in UTs offense.

If Chryst is in our offense he will throw the ball the way Tyson Helton wants him to. (If he doesn't do that he wont start)

Those are the facts.

The fact is Chryst hasnt won anything, his team won those games while he was the QB.
