NBA could take a lesson here. This is how you do it. And WTA is way more of a niche sport than the NBA with a higher proportion of their revenue dependent on China. Is my guess.

from a WSJ article:

Though the decision could cost women’s tennis hundreds of millions of dollars in future revenue, WTA Chief Executive Steve Simon said he would willingly cut off one of the sport’s largest business partners until Peng’s status was clarified.

CNN's Jake Tapper says Hollywood, Silicon Valley, and the NBA have 'blood on their hands' for cravenly chasing Chinese cash while overlooking 'disappearance' of tennis star Peng Shuai and Uighur torture

CNN host Jake Tapper slammed Hollywood, Silicon Valley and the NBA for being 'blinded' by Chinese cash while ignoring the Communist regime's human rights abuses.

Tapper criticized the American industries for their indifference amid ongoing fears over the safety of Chinese tennis champion Peng Shuai, who has been silenced after accusing former Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli of sexual assault.

He also slammed the IOC for moving forward with holding the Winter Games next year in Beijing.

'The millionaires and billionaires of Hollywood and the NBA and the IOC and Wall Street are all so eager for Chinese cash, they’re pretending none of this is happening,' Tapper said on his show State of the Union on Sunday.

'There is no amount of money that can buy enough soap to wash that blood off their hands.'

Consumers’ Research Urges Ten Governors to Divest State Pension Funds from China-Investing BlackRock

A consumer group is urging ten governors that their state pension plans are putting national security and their financial soundness at risk by trusting funds to BlackRock, the world’s largest money manager.

Consumers’ Research, an educational nonprofit dedicated to consumer information, has been critical of BlackRock in the past because of the firm’s ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The letters are addressed to the governors of 10 states–Washington, Florida, New York, Nevada, Nebraska, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Montana, and West Virginia — whose public pensions are heavily invested with BlackRock.

“BlackRock’s unabashed gusto for Chinese markets flies in the face of concerns about China’s ascendant standing in the world, its authoritarian model of government, and its ambitions to supplant the U.S. as the pre-eminent world power,” the letter stated.

The group also sent a Consumer Warning to “raise awareness among American consumers that BlackRock is taking their money and betting on China.”

If they are betting on the CCP, they are betting against you and I. And the Biden administration is full of these Blackrockers.

Tim Cook signed a 'secret $275 Billion Apple deal with China in 2016 promising to help develop their economy in return for quashing regulatory actions against iPhone maker'

Apple CEO Tim Cook personally met with Chinese officials in 2016 and pledged to invest $275 Billion into the local economy over a five-year period in exchange for Beijing allowing the iPhone maker to freely do business on the mainland.

Cook visited China in 2016 after government regulators began to pass a series of measures that hampered the tech giant's activities in the country, according to The Information.

In 2016, Apple executives were alarmed at the Chinese government's threats against features such as Apple Pay, iCloud, and the App Store, prompting Cook to hold a series of secret meetings with Beijing officials.

Cook and Communist Party officials came to a 'memorandum of understanding,' according to the report. Apple pledged to invest some $275 Billion into the Chinese economy over a period of five years.

NFL Publishes Map Falsely Showing Taiwan as Part of China

The National Football League (NFL) published a map on social media Thursday incorrectly depicting the sovereign nation of Taiwan as part of China.

The map was meant to illustrate the debut of “International Marketing Areas” for different teams; the Los Angeles Rams were designated to promote their brand in China. As American football is largely unpopular around the world and appetite for the NFL at home has declined significantly, the league appears to be following the National Basketball League (NBA) in seeking to profit from business with communist China, despite its extensive record of human rights atrocities, including crimes against athletes.

Amazon Killed One Of Its Most Popular Features Because China’s Communist Party Demanded It

Amazon stopped offering customer ratings and reviews of books sold in China at the request of the Chinese Communist Party, according to a Reuters investigation.

The Chinese government ordered Amazon to stop allowing customers to review books following less-than-perfect ratings of a collection of President Xi Jinping’s writings, Reuters reported, citing two people familiar with the matter. Amazon partnered with a state-owned firm called China International Book Trading Corp (CIBTC) and created a portal, which it called China Books, that promotes Chinese Communist Party material and forbids negative reviews.

CCP Paid DC Radio Station $4.4 Million To Broadcast Propaganda

Chuck Ross • December 20, 2021 4:59 am

The Chinese Communist Party paid a Washington, D.C., radio station $4.4 million over the past two years to broadcast propaganda, according to new federal foreign agent disclosures.

The Virginia-based Potomac Media Group detailed its lucrative contract with the Communist Party’s International Communication Planning Bureau in filings last Thursday with the Justice Department. As part of the deal, Potomac Media’s WCRW, an AM station, airs content from China Global Television Network and a series of talk shows that portray China in a positive light.

Beijing’s partnership with an AM radio station highlights the scope of its propaganda activities in the United States, which have gone into overdrive in recent years as China seeks to distract from its human rights abuses. China’s state-run media organizations aggressively promote their content to American audiences on social media and through publication deals with American newspapers and magazines. China Daily, a state-run newspaper, has paid millions of dollars to Time, Foreign Policy, and the Wall Street Journal to publish its articles online. The Chinese consulate in New York recently hired a public relations firm to recruit social media influencers to promote the Beijing Olympics.
