China Thread

I think they will handle this virus better than SARS and Bird Flu. Trying to hide and cover up these outbreaks made them much worse. I had to travel from China to Hong Kong during the SARS period. It was surreal, only a handful of people on mass transit. A Singapore Airlines stew was a carrier, took it back to Singapore and killed most of her immediate family and close relatives but never got sick herself. That was a bad one, hope this is contained quickly.

I am a little concerned at how fast this thing is spreading. I'm not saying this is the next Spanish Flu but it is starting to be worrying.

Chinese New Year begins in a few days but people have been on the move going home for the last 2 weeks. International travel will triple next week and the virus will follow.

The cat's already out of the bag. How on earth do you quarantine a city of 11 million people (That is on the scale of locking down NYC which has 3 million people less)?
Well, for one they need to force everyone to hunker down and quarantine themselves in their homes, not let them run for the freakin airport.

China locks down cities to curb virus outbreak

Hours later, authorities in neighbouring Huanggang announced public transport and train services would be suspended at midnight, while people were told to not leave the city of 7.5 million.

All of Huanggang's cinemas, internet cafes, and the central market will close.

A third city, 1.1 million-population Ezhou, announced the train station had been closed earlier in the day.

And highways were closed in neighbouring Xiantao, while public transport will be suspended from midnight in nearby Chibi. The two cities have a combined population of around two million people.

As efforts to contain the virus spread, Beijing cancelled massive gatherings that usually attract throngs at temples during the New Year holiday, while the historic Forbidden City will close from Saturday.

So China has put close to 21 million people in quarantine. This has to be worse than what they are officially saying. I also saw this morning that the Chinese opened a level 4 biolab in Wuhan back in 2018, this is sounding like horror movie script.

I'm afraid there's a massive coverup going on by the Chinese government of how bad this really is.

They would try to suppress information, and probably did, now that the cats out of the bag no point. The people are illiterate about this type of infection, spoke with a relative in Wuhan this morning and she was unconcerned because she had a flu shot and was wearing a mask. They need to educate the masses on how this virus is transmitted and fast.

We have someone from China here. And talking with her about stuff happening in China is scary.

The virus? Not an issue.
The protests in Hong Kong? Didnt happen, until long after they did.
Media blackouts? Not because the government issued a direct order.

I guess when you are raised in that level of social engineering it's impossible to question.
