China Thread

The United States has fought multifront wars before. But in past conflicts, it was always able to outproduce its opponents. That’s no longer the case: China’s navy is already bigger than the United States’ in terms of sheer number of ships, and it’s growing by the equivalent of the entire French Navy (about 130 vessels, according to the French naval chief of staff) every four years. By comparison, the U.S. Navy plans an expansion by 75 ships over the next decade.

!azy..so pulling a Gay Plagarism.
i would be interested in tonnage, but afraid it isnt any better.

Over $3 BILLION Flowed From US Venture Capital Firms To China to Aid Military and Spy Capabilities: Lawmakers reveal how American dollars are 'subsidizing' the CCP's 'malign' efforts in bombshell report

Top lawmakers put out a bombshell report Thursday revealing how billions American dollars are flowing into the hands of the Chinese Communist Party - and being used to support their military and genocidal efforts.

The report states that U.S. venture capitalist companies have helped 'build and strengthen' China's authoritarian regime through a variety of methods.

According to the House China Select Committee, over $3 billion was invested into Chinese artificial intelligence and semiconductor companies by five top U.S. venture capitalist firms between 2001 and 2023.

The committee launched an investigation last summer into the finances of five companies: Sequoia Capital, Qualcomm Ventures, Walden International, GSR Ventures and GGV Capital.

Chinese 'spy' Arrested in California For 'Stealing Nuclear Secrets that could detect missile launches from SPACE' - and sending them to the CCP

A suspected Chinese spy was arrested Tuesday for allegedly stealing US nuclear secrets.

Chenguang Gong, 57, of San Jose, California, was said to have transferred more than 3,600 files containing blueprints for sophisticated infrared sensors that detect missile launches.

The stolen information was said to be 'worth hundreds of millions of dollars' and 'would be dangerous to US national security if obtained by international actors,' according to court documents.

Gong is a China-native who moved to the US around 1993 and became a citizen in 2011.

The US Attorney for the Central District of California said Gong 'sought to provide the People's Republic of China with information to aid its military.'

Gong was released on a $2.5 million bond Wednesday following a hearing in San Jose - he is set back in court on February 20 and is facing 10 years in federal prison.

Looks like th3 whole world is going to hell in a hand basket.
True. We have a growing debt crisis, not just the government, but personal and corporate debt as well. Many have maxed out their credit. No more big spending = a recession for the U.S. in 2024 and Europe is in bad shape as well. China....oofff. They are screwed long term especially, really bad.

@Orangeburst

Sounds like a party…

I can’t imagine us sending 5 Super Carriers to the Pacific. I’m thinking 3 big boys and a couple America Class with a full complement of F-35B’s.

That’s still a crowded field though, and a hell of a lot of firepower….
China is screwed. Decks will be bristling with fearful MQ-25s

Seriously, I am still peeved The Philippines kicked us out of Subic and Clark and now need us. I wonder what infrastructure looks like.
