When you have to kick off 9-10 players in one season, it doesnt matter how high your classes came in. Also, Mack didnt develop any players his last two years either. Once again, doesnt matter how well you recruit if you cant develop. Strong basically had plenty of upperclassmen that were duds when he took over and bunch of underclassmen loyal to Brown.
Nice edit from "Currie is that you?"
He won't be interested because the boosters today was here in 2012.
Atleast you've moved on from Mullen. Lol
He didnt HAVE to kick off anyone. He CHOSE to do so...ala Kiffin in his lone season in Knoxville. Confident that he did so to establish his culture and establish discipline but ultimately it didnt pan out. Thats on HIM. He had time to make his imprint and never did. All that and if he beats a pathetic Kansas squad, he gets another year. Hes a better coach than this but was a failure at Texas.
What are you talking about edit? Youre absurd. And I havent moved past Mullen. My top 3 hasnt changed but I do have a top 5 since the season is halfway done. Happy to share.
1- Chip Kelly
2- Dan Mullen
3- Tee Martin
4- Chuck Strong
5- Les Miles
While I hope to not have to go past option 1, I think 2/3 are solid fall back options and 4/5 are better than hiring coordinators (outside of Tee) or other mid major/up and comer coaches with zero name ID or recruiting prowess.
Lol. Love Sandberg. Funny guy.
But you know exactly what Im saying. The only way I want Strong is if he goes 11-1/12-0 at USF, which I think he does. If he does that and crashes the NY6, he would definitely be worth looking at if Chip and Gruden turn us down. At the end of the day, he would check some boxes for us in that he knows what it takes to have a top SEC defense, recruit South Florida better than anyone, and most importantly, he develops players. My only concern is his ability to hire a top notch OC. That seems to be his biggest issue.
Strong is overrated.
Nobody in the SEC would be afraid of him if he came to Tennessee.
Literally, Texas is a Top 5 Program and couldn't win with the talent that was already there.

So youre saying he doesnt have the ability to recruit and coach top SEC defenses?
I want Chip Kelly as much as anyone but if he says no, along with Gruden, we need to be realistic about decent coaches to interview.
That's the problem.
I don't want a "descent" coach that we have to take a chance on.
I want a proven HC that's won at a high level.
That's the problem with our Administration now. They don't want to spend the money to get great results. I want to win now!
That's why we're stuck with CBJ.
Kansas dude. Second win for KANSAS. And please dont do the this is what YOU GUYS thought thing. Its disingenuous. :hi:

Butchna, name one mid major coach or up and comer that would be a better hire than Strong if Chip and Gruden tell us no.
So if he loses to Major Applewhite or Scott Frost he good? Those are mid-major coaches. Gets into a NY6 bowl game and gets blasted? So he goes undefeated and Im the AD in Knoxville? I hire Brohm,Durkin,Norvell,Frost,Venables et al (no set order) after I kick the tires on Kelly or the fantasy longshots. After that Strong and I order a lot of Knob Creek.![]()
Dude you was on this message board saying youll know all you need to know about Butch Jones after the Georgia game when we lost to Florida. Thats not a you guys thought thingits what a lot of Butch supporters posted.
What did I say? If he goes 11-1/12-0. I also said if Kelly turns us down. Also, what happens if he goes 13-0 and wins a NY6. You still gonna call him overrated? It can go both ways here. Thats why Ive been very clear on my conditions for considering him.
Brohm, Durkin, Norvell have zero name ID when it comes to national recruiting. Strong does. And he also has a great track record in the SEC regarding defenses.
Where did I say overrated? Same place I compared 1 and 5 game records? :wink2: Kirby Smart doesnt get those instant recruiting results at Purdue and Strong didnt at USF. I dont buy he automatically saves this recruiting class and thats the least of my concerns. I want a coach that will grow the program and I dont see that with Strong. I feel more confident with the other names I opined. If Currie disagrees with me? Cool. He couldve failed at Texas and kept me as stoked as when he spurned us...he bombed. Hell get another shot at a big school. I hope we end up better. JMO.
