Charlie Kirk Shot and killed

"Those other weak minded individuals like him"

Just can't help yourself, can you ? There was one shooter. You dont identify these other like minded individuals. You just use it to ascribe to millions of people the act of a single person. Shame on you.

So the thousands and thousands and thousands of individuals that are on social media outlets right now rejoicing, calling it justified don’t really exist? The shooter was the only individual in the world that thought Kirk was unacceptable? Even you should have enough dignity to acknowledge the truth, but maybe that’s beyond your ability.

I did not like Kirk, but my heart sank today for America and for his family. This is not good at all. He didn't deserve it.

But if people in this thread are going to use his death to condemn how the left approaches discourse, then we have to have an honest conversation about Kirk, too. And nobody should ever confuse this for the idea that "he deserved it."
Why did you not like Kirk? In the videos I’ve seen of his campus events, he opens the microphone for discussion and debate on most any topic. He wasn’t a name caller and allowed others to speak freely on their beliefs. Kirk would correct erroneous statements and explained his view of the topics. He was the closest thing I’ve seen to free discussion and debate. Maybe you didn’t share his opinions, but if you disliked him then you should self reflect on why. I can’t see why anyone would dislike him.

Most likely because of stuff he reads on Twitter.

Don't bother
All the more reason to. I understand your frustration. It is good and okay to feel that way. But keeping an honest/open window for discourse is very important here. Admitting when maybe we took our point to far is okay. Allowing people to be human and make mistakes is what makes us who we are. Without the ability for the chance to grow nobody would ever learn or change their minds politically.

I don't post often anymore, but this was a sad day. I'm deeply concerned about the direction we are heading in regards to free speech and the rise of political violence over the years, it's troubling to see and I feel like just a bystander in the midst of an ever growing volume of chaos. Where everyone's opinions are turned up to 11 and I can't even find room to speak, I'm just listening. I'm upset by what happened to Charlie, I thought what he was doing was a good way for people to be heard, even if people ended up disagreeing, it was healthy. No matter what I've done today, my mind keeps pulling me back to what happened. This was such a vile thing to happen and it bothers me that there are people who have lost their way, who think that this is something worthy of celebration. May God have mercy on us.

I appreciate what you're trying to do. But thoughts and prayers are what got us here. I'm just tired of gun violence. It's every day. Every single day. It will never stop.

Some of you people are sick!!
It’s almost as if you are defending this?
This thread reminds me of how stupidly and sheepishly people will blindly follow politics, right to the edge and over the cliff.
How disgusting some of you are and I don’t care if you’re democrat, republican or of this “offends” you.
People get murdered and it’s left wing this, right wing that...
Some of you need to step away from the political BS for a minute and actually try to become human again and have some damn sympathy for your fellow man, politics be damned!

Here is the good news. You get to see who these people are. It's antithetical to Christianity. We don't wish or cheer for people to get murdered for no reason because of their opinion. It's not someone else's life to take. The sick individuals justifying it are sick - left, right, center.

This was a political assassination. Replace Charlie Kirk's name with Farrakhan, AOC, Kimmel, etc and we should all feel the exact same way. This cannot be tolerated in a civilized society.

Yet, Brian Stelter and ilk just like him were blaming reporting the news of the Ukrainian girl murder by a black male psychopath on MAGA, Charlie Kirk, or whoever else they could gaslight. Kirk speaking out about it became their target. Kirk is just the first a sinister and deviant mind is after. Remember they missed on Trump a couple of times that we know about.

Are you holding up alright? I think it might be better if we continue this conversation somewhere private. I know how heavy and overwhelming this can feel, but it does not have to stay that way. We did not end up here because of thoughts and prayers. We are here because of actions, often carried out by people who were struggling and needed help themselves. No matter how dark or evil an act may seem, even the worst can be prevented or cut short with the right focus, attention, and effort.

Charlie won the debate, that’s why he was killed.

Those whining about his rhetoric should realize Charlie was very laid back and civil. He was vanilla. The next one probably won’t be.

Agreed. He tried engaging peacefully and with reasonable discussions. Charlie asked questions to those he engaged with because he wanted to know why they believed in and what they brought to the stage for discussion.
