Change coming?

So it is OK for a Fr player who wants to become the team's leader to put his personal agenda in front of his team?

Of course. But I want him to want to earn it more. By all accounts at that point Dormady had won the job outright. Jones pretty obviously didn't like that outcome and kept the "competition" open until Dormady played poorly then got injured giving him an opportunity to change QB's. It seems likely that no one thought JG should be playing... except JG.

I've never hated him. I've had some reservations but have given him credit for moving past that one event. He at least doesn't show it openly if he has those feelings.

Don’t be naive. Like I pointed out to another poster, there’s not a back up QB in division 1 college football that wants the guy in front of him to succeed. It’s just a fact and it’s ok. They didn’t come here to be back ups. I have no problem with JGs demeanor on the sideline. I do have a problem with how he’s playing now tho

I’d like to see him toss it around , see what he looks like

If we are up considerably he will get to toss a pitch out to Aaron Beasley.

For him to go in with a close game would take JG throwing 2 pics and a fumble in 1st half.
Other than that it will be mop up, if UT is up early (3rd quarter) they will let him throw a few
and give way to Shrout for hand off's in 4th. JMO

After 2 years of JG trust me...the fans will know when they see it on the field....
We don't look for JG or any other QB to pass 100% but the fans will know who has the best chance of improvement and carrying the team when they see it on the field of play....thats all we ask
You've got to love ol' @k-town_king . Doesn't know the first thing about football. Could recognize a QB issue if it slapped him across the face. But he's a loyal cultist.

Uh, yeah, there are. At least the smart ones do. They have an opportunity to learn then take over a team that's been built on the strength of wins and the recruiting that follows wins. I remember years ago some folks from my hometown clamoring for Heath Shuler to start as a Fr. He had a much better arm and athleticism than Kelly. But he was wise enough to see that it was to his benefit to sit a year and make sure he was ready before being thrown into the heat.

The behavior is possibly reflective of an attitude. That's the concern I have. A QB with a me first attitude has no hope of leading the team.

He was an immature freshman who wanted to play and was upset. Oh the humanity! Herbie was out of line on this and I don’t think it was fair to JG. I saw a kid who was barely 18 years old and wasn’t handling well his spot on the bench. Don’t you want your QB upset about not getting to play?? Herbie just tried to create drama. I mean, Herbie literally said JG should’ve been sitting with Dormady on the bench when Dormady was hanging on with one cheek with the Olineman. Was JG supposed to sit in Dormady’s lap? The cameras took herbie’s lead and immediately cut to JG after Dormady’s TD to try to create drama. What BS. JG was a freshman having a very natural and very freshman reaction to wanting to play. Face it, the people who are pointing this out now have already been hating on him all year. It’s disingenuous as all get out.
You keep saying that word [freshman]. I don't think it means what you think it means.

It was his second year in college. That's disingenuous as all get out.

Hey since you love Pff I guess you also agree he is a top 3 SEC and Top 25 NCAA qb who just had a bad game.
Those stats are BS and you know it. How many 300+ yards games does he have? He only threw for 12 tds last year. Quit acting like he sets the world on fire

This could possibly mean nothing more than they've named Maurer the solid #2.

Of course it could mean something more if any of the earlier rumors about Chaney wanting to play someone else are true. And no, there's nothing wrong or unusual with coaches having discussions and disagreement over when or whether to pull a starter that isn't performing well.

Backups probably chomping at the bits.....maybe BM wants to put the team on his shoulders and carry them to victory...............I TRY TO POST "THIS WEEKS PLAYERS OF THE GAME" for the PLAYERS to let them know we are watching and care about their play...........WE KNOW THEY READ THE BOARDS....so praise the good they do and there is nothing wrong with pointing out the bad....just don't beat a dead horse to death.................................GO VOLS

Wasn’t there a time when the masses were clamoring to pull the starter to get JG in?

I see you're trying talk sense to K-town, Do you think deep down inside he is excited at the possibility of seeing another QB tomorrow?
Excited...despondent...plotting...whatevs.

20 career starts
19 passing TDs
1 rushing TD two years ago
-150 career rushing yards
6/20 wins
2 SEC wins

Those stats tell a story. I typically respect PFF as a resource, but on this one they are way off.

Who specifically said that Jones "lied" to him?

I think we've seen some indications of this attitude since. But generally, why shouldn't he be happy since? Jones kept the "competition" open until he won it... then immediately closed it. Jones wanted him to be the starter and was frustrated by the fact that Dormady pretty clearly beat him out and had the confidence of guys like John Kelly.

Dormady struggled which eventually gave Jones the excuse to do what he wanted to do from the start.

One other thing that has continued to bother me was a "fluff" piece earlier in the year describing how JG was taking the OL's out for ice cream or something like that to build rapport. The simple question in my mind is if a 4th year QB is established as a team leader and is central in the locker room... why would something like this be necessary?

"Chemistry" is a real thing in a football team. If they're still trying to make JG the "leader of the offense" at this point... that's big trouble.

I'm with you 100% about the "if they are at this point still trying to make JG the leader of the offense"...

Nice try
At UT
JG- 6-14
BM- 0-0

JG inabilities and low football IQ have handicapped this team. It's time to move on JG, he's in the same category as Simms and Worley. Everyone said their backups sucked but I remember 2 wide eyed freshman that made some noise. Screw JG secondary stats, they mean nothing and the guy does not pass the eye test and will not play pro football
In HS. High School. He was 2-8. If a QB is bad because his team loses then BM is bad.

Researching what “all the experts” are saying...cuz that’s how K-Town rolls. 😎

I meant what are your thoughts about possibly seeing Maurer?

I've already admitted several times it seems I was wrong, so as always, I'm all for the QB that gives us the best chance to win. It hasn't looked good for JG, so I guess if Maurer starts or just plays tomorrow, we might get an answer one way or another.

Yaaaay, Maurer coming in!!!! Thing about it, everyone might find out JG is our best chance at winning.

Every backup QB has a me first attitude until they get playing time. They want to play. You really think back up QBs want the guy in front of them to succeed for the “betterment of the team?” No way. Especially if the guy in front of them is in the same class as them or one year older
