Everyone is calling for a new OC, now
I do not agree that Chaney was a good keep to build undeveloped talent. Lets face it he runs a very complex, albeit successful Offence. The problem the last 2 years has been the learning curve. Also missing the key pieces needed to hit those plays. Mistakes were made, plays were schemed around 4 guys. 1 went down in the FL game, 1 didnt show up at the level we needed him to, and 2 had
personnel issues.
We fans got to see glimpses of greatness with these young men, and some fans
myself included, bit on that and wanted to expect it. The thing is now that these young men have grown in the knowledge of the scheme, and how their job impacts the other players I think they can turn the page and grow as a team. Some blame does fall on the coaches for trusting the players to make plays Consistently, young players are not consistent. We as fans need to understand that a coach trusting a player is not a bad thing, its not always a good thing either though.
They are not young anymore, they have developed seeing at times how good they can be. At the same time being frustrated and blame casting to explain not holding it together. Changing OC and starting back at the bottom of the curve is not the best thing to have happen right now. If we change OC again, it will translate into more frustration for the players this fall. I am not saying the talent we have cannot learn a new system right now, I just mean that it will be at a cost. That cost will likely be missing teamwork again.
I think we need to be stuck with Chaney for at least this next year. Then, we can consider bringing Cutcliff back as our OC/Assoc. HC, Manning as our QB coach

, and all will be well.
