CFP.....deep thoughts

I think it would make the regular season less interesting. Why play any OOC games, especially against quality opponents?
Would there be any reason for strengthening your conference top to bottom, ACC model will become the norm

Football would be much better if the regular season conference games were held to 8 or even reduced to 7, and there was more good OOC play. I'd even argue for cutting back the number of games and getting rid of the charity games that serve as bye weeks. Look at an old Tennessee schedule (before the SEC became bloated). For example, in 1980 Tennessee played 11 games, and those included USC (#5), WA St, GA Tech, Pitt, and VA. You get a much better feel of how conferences and teams stack up with a schedule like that. However, with a larger conference, those OOC games would have to be pared back ... but in all the OOC games there wasn't a UTC or a UTM, or other teams filling in as a bye. To unilaterally schedule that way today with the emphasis on conference and a "national" championships would be suicide.

2nd game showed outstanding game prep coaching for OSU I thought. OSU staff did a great job scheming Clemson and taking advantage of a lot. Clemson staff was outstanding making adjustments before half & at half time.

I didn’t understand why Day kicked the pat after their last TD when he was up 1. That’s wasn’t good coaching. Allowed Clemson to play a short field to win (even though they didn’t need it). The 3 pt lead is huge there in most situations

Could not disagree more. I think opening the playoffs to 8 teams would only improve college football as a whole. Make the 5 power conference winners automatic bids and have 3 at larges based on ranking. This would make winning your conference title much more meaningful and would allow for some "Cinderella" teams a shot. I'm 1000% in favor of expanding to 8 teams.

I am for 8 teams as well, Okl. imo was not the 4th best team. Auburn, bama, both are better than okl. Thats why I am for 8 teams. If we had 8 teams in the playoffs you would see in some years a 5 thru 8 ranked team win it all. Teams 1 thru 3 this year I think they have right.

The 4 spot didn’t matter this year. There are 3 teams that are night and day ahead of everyone else in the top 25. Whoever got the 4 spot was always gonna get blown out by LSU.

There is zero need for an expansion considering the strength of 1-3 and the weakness of 4-10.

Bama could play with any of them. With a healthy Tua they would have beaten lsu

You call someone children and then use a child like response with boo hoo hoo. Pot meet kettle!!!

I'm sorry you can't get over what some mean ole coach did 10 years ago in a program and sport that has no direct day to day impact on your life..... Must have been a hard ten years for you.

Yet they weren't ever in contention once they lost to Auburn.... Once again, there are teams 1-3 that are close to each other and then there is a big dropoff with teams 4-10. Bringing Bama up when they were in contention for the playoff in the final rankings means absolutely nothing.

Like Lsu curbstomped bama, with an injured qb on bama?? 4 is not enough.

Once again, you are bringing up a team that is ranked 13th in the final playoff rankings.

At 13th, they wouldn't even be in contention for a playoff spot in an expanded playoff. Bringing up Bama means absolutely nothing.

Fla gave lsu a good game in regular season..
I bet the score would be exactly the same in all subsequent games. Or maybe they wouldn’t play each other. Or how bout Bama (5pt loss) or AU (3pt loss). All you “4 is enough-stans” are absurd with pretending there are any absolutes in CFB.

Honestly I like Dabo and the program that he runs. If I was sending a kid to school it would likely be to his program as I feel like it’s very Christian based and seems like a good place to send young kids to be mentored correctly. I hope they wear out LSU not sure that will
Happen but hope it’s a better game than the LSU sucklohama game. I hope we can get to the level of Clemson in the next few years and be us in the playoffs

Using 1game as a reason against an 8 team playoff is stupid. It was a bad matchup & OU had suspensions to boot.

I’ve always liked LSU and don’t know why. I figured they would win yesterday but not that easily.
I thought OSU would win but I hate them almost as much as ND, so I’m glad Clemson won.
I think LSU wins easily vs Clemson.

You are correct sir ... and those that disagree ... well they just don't know what they are talking about. The facts, LSU played 5 different teams during the regular season that were ranked inside the Top 10 at the time they played. THE ohio state played only 2. This is not to say that THE ohio state is not a good team this year, they are BUT they should NEVER have been ranked in front of LSU and therefore should NEVER have been #1.

While I understand that the politicking by espn and b1g conference and other media outlets swayed AP and Coaches polls to allow osu to be number 1 for a few weeks; I thought it reflected very poorly on the CFP ranking committee members who are supposed be more scientific and logic based.
