I would rather be ranked low and rise in the rankings as the year goes along. I would rather be pleasantly surprised as the season progresses than let down as I have been for the last 15 years.
So, while I think 68 is too low, I will wait, watch, and hope...

Until our teams perform the way a true P5 and a SEC team should perform, we're in no position to object to poor rankings of any kind. Hopefully, this will be the year of our long march out of the Valley of Oblivion.

The answer is yes and no. Rankings are based on records or in this case expected records. We play in the SEC which means relative to our talent we will or at least are expected to finish with a worse record than say if we played in the PAC 12. If the Vols were in the ACC we would easily be ranked 20 spots higher. This also explains how while struggling to play .500 football in conference, we routinely win bowl games against in many cases higher ranked teams. So is a team expected to finish 5-7 ranked correctly at 68th? Yes. Is this years team really the 68th best (worst) team in the country? No. There are a number of teams ranked above us that if we played them, Vegas would make us the favorite.

I don’t think we’ll win easily, but people just look at last years score and think that was a beat down. It was a team that quit after their QB threw back to back pick 6’s. UK is built for games like that when they can just bleed the clock, especially when a defense lays down bc they have zero confidence that the offense will play complimentary football.

Tennessee will be top 25 before this season ends!

I will repost this thought every time we win a game we were not supposed to win!

Agreed. In 2018, UK won 10 games and finished 2nd in the East. In Pruitts first year we stomped their best team in a long time. They beat one of our worst teams last year. If JG hadn’t played, we likely beat them. It just gets old when people look at last years game and say oh UK has passed us. It’s BS.

UK hasn’t passed us at all, and that’s with us being historically bad for the past 15 years.

How in the world is this too low?

We had a net loss of ~25 players to the transfer portal, brand new coaching staff, we went 3-7 last year, and they say we are a middle of the pack team nationally. Seems reasonable to me.
