I appreciate the take on Pitt. I don't get it but they're consistently showing up above us in pre season polls. I don't believe it either but I'm not ready to call them a creampuff, easy win, etc.I don't make a lot of predictions because they burn you about as often as not... but I believe UK is badly overrated. They have been no better than middling the past couple of years from the perspective of the whole SEC... and then just lost 10+ of their best players. They could be "awesome"... but they face a "rebuild" bigger than UT's.
Pitt won't finish there. Their schedule other than a very weak OOC schedule is improved. Likely losses without respect to UT- UNC, Miami, Clemson, Va Tech, and Virginia. Ga Tech could be a trap. They're probably going to be a 5 or 6 loss team again. In spite of the weakness of the ACC and their typical OOC schedule, they haven't lost less than 5 games since changing conferences.
As for KY, if the situation were reversed..... new, 1st time SEC head coach, new and very different offensive system, tons of loss in the portal, thinner than you would like OL (Heupel's words, not mine,) suspect defense, arguably QB1 and QB2 who've never played a down in the SEC...... we'd be happy to see that.
I'm not saying KY is a powerhouse, they're not, but they're more stable and a little more seasoned than TN this year. Talent? We've got them. We had them last year but KY has had more time to gel as a team, to understand their weak points and adjust.
We're flying blind in many ways. It's not a slam dunk TN win in Lexington this year.
