CBJ: "We're ready to own expectations"

I'd personally rather go 1-11 and beat Bama as go 13-1 and lose to those idiots again. It's personal for me though. Go Vols!

Butch Jones actually embracing expectations instead of tempering them should tell you how good this team is

1 of the most important things in any sport is the mental aspect of the entire team and coaching staff.

I think that buTch had some doubts about last season and in the end he played not to lose rather than to keep doing what worked and keep the pedal to the floor on the gas and that backfired.

The fact is that against Ok, Fl and alaBubba we only needed 1 good play on D and those 3 would have been WINS and we would have been in HOTlanta in the SC Championship game and there's no telling what would have happened then.

buTch has now learned his lessons in the always brutal SEC and he's also now ready.

All our coaches, players and new recruits SAW it with their own eyes.

Now all of them have zero doubts, they KNOW it and they BELIEVE it and they know that Team 120 can get the WIN in every game they play if they stay focused on 1 game at a time and prepare right for the team coming in front of them.

buTch and our coaches have disected every play from every game we played last season.

Now they're watching every game from last season of every team we lay this season and taking notes and preparing for this season.

You can bet they've disected Memphis games to learn all they can about what to expect and get ready for a Historic WIN at the Battle at Bristol.

buTch now speaks with certainty, confidence and lets a tiny bit of swagger out at times so we now know that everyone involved with our footVol team has the mental edge of KNOWING for a fact that they can and will get the WIN that we all expect in every game this season.

They're confident now but after the WIN against the Gators that confidence will go through the roof and keep building WIN by WIN.

In my 62 years of living I'm not sure I've ever felt as confident in our footVol team as I do for this season.

It's unbelievable how fast we went from a almost nothing dumpster fire of a team to where we are today.

We're getting the hype and high expectations that our coaches and players have earned and built up #BrickbyBrick.

This season can't start soon enough for me.

Team 120, building a Champion WIN by WIN...VFL...GBO!!!

That is what has caught my attention as well. He has typically deflected any kind of reason for optimism until now.

Well said, and I whole-heartily agree. I've been waiting years for the Fulmeritis to go away. Finally, I too, have lived long enough to see my beloved VOLS back on top. I'm 64. I look at Neyland everyday as I have that big-azz wall murial from Fathead rigt next to my computer in the study. Whoo-Hoo, the VOLS are finally back!!!!

We bleed orange all of us VFLS some negative, some keeping it real, and some tell it the way it is, as my father who was shot and killed on my bday 3yrs ago took me to Neyland back when I lived in Hendersonville in 92 and said son this is college football I want u to pass on for generations, being 15 seeing our glory days, no matter dooley, kiffen, or ehh Eff dooley, point being I was raised and bleed orange and passed it onto my son, and now my step kids of Arizona see what TRUE southern pride is, our VFLS, maybe cuz when I grounded them I only let them watch UT

There's a lot more season after Florida.

He needs to show us all of 2016. Not any one week.

That's the first hurdle and most important game of the season. Show that this team is ready, that it's special, that it's different. Beat Florida and we're on our way....I think that's what the poster meant.

Play four quarters with your hair on fire and never let off the accelerator and the rest will take care of itself.... no more playing not to lose. We have the talent now to play with and beat anyone in the country if everyone is doing their job. Own it.
